Poll: Obama leads in Virginia (PPP: Obama leads by five... in D+4 poll)

President Obama leads Mitt Romney in the critical battleground state of Virginia, according to a survey released Thursday from Public Policy Polling.

Obama takes 51 percent support over Romney at 46. The survey was conducted on the Tuesday and Wednesday following Monday’s third and final presidential debate.

Obama led the same poll from last weekend, 49-47, over Romney.

The poll could be an outlier — according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, Obama and Romney are tied at 48 in Virginia.

Obama is buoyed in the poll by a wide gender gap. Women favored Obama 57-41 over Romney, while men favored Romney 50-45 over Obama.

Obama overtook Romney with independents in the poll, and now holds a slight 47-45 lead with the group after trailing Romney by 1 point last week.

Romney’s surge in the polls has made Republicans optimistic that Romney will secure the three critical Southern swing states of Virginia, Florida and North Carolina.

Obama is campaigning in Virginia on Thursday.

The survey of 722 likely voters was conducted between Oct. 23 and 24 and has a 3.6 percent margin of error.

PPP is really on the prowl disseminating fake polls. Their credibility is lower than Obama’s.

PPP is a Dem poll, and doesn’t even count in the RCP average.

PPP has had Obama leading in VA the entire season - even when all other pollsters show it to be almost a Romney lock.

How can these hacks sleep at night?

No one in their right mind thinks O is ahead in Virginia, much less polling over 50% there.

Oo-fah.

I’m in Virginia and was one of the respondents of this poll.
Below is the way they phrased it:

“Hi, we’re Public Policy Polling. If the election were today, would you vote for 1) President Barack Obama or
2) the Independent Thinking Virgil Goode or
3) the Mormon Bullshitter Romney?”

The absentee voting numbers from Virginia yesterday had Romney killing among absentee voters with votes in Republican counties up 18% over 2008 numbers, while absentee votes in counties the went for Obama were up less than 4% from 2008. This on top of Obama’s virtual promise in the final debate to kill the shipbuilding industry in Virginia. And this liberal polling outfit wants us to believe Obama has GAINED ground?!?

"Lol... Rasmussen has it 50-48 Romney as of today."

Tom Jensen over there at PPP is trying desperately to boost Obama's numbers now because he can see the writing is on the wall for the president in VA because of sequestration.

People aren't stupid (despite what the administration might think)- just because the layoff notices won't be rolling in before the elections doesn't mean they're not coming soon...

Amazing. All national polls show Romney having zero gap with women (incl the DNC organ AP confirming as much), huge lead with men, big lead with independents yet some how Obama is winning two leaning Republican states (blowout Republican just two years ago) in Ohio and Virginia despite the early vote figures saying otherwise.

Give the MSM credit they will never give up.

I drove to Arlington (Ballston) from Great Falls yesterday. Went down Old Dominion through McLean. In 2008, Obama signs were 10-1 against McCain. This year it was 70-30 in Great Falls, 45-55 Obama in McLean and about 60-40 in Arlington...Obama is in deep trouble if Romney gets anywhere close to 45% of the vote in Arlington/Fairfax.

More thread drift. Suddenly I feel old. I found several Navy Gangnam videos on Youtube. Really didn’t appeal to me.

I had to look up “Gangnam” I guess the lyrics are in Korean? Which would explain why I couldn’t understand a word they were saying. Now I know how my Mom felt listening to my music, lol.
