A North Korean army minister was executed with a mortar round for reportedly drinking and carousing during the official mourning period after Kim Jong-il's death.

Kim Chol, vice minister of the army, was taken into custody earlier this year on the orders of Kim Jong-un, who assumed the leadership after the death of his father in December.

On the orders of Kim Jong-un to leave "no trace of him behind, down to his hair," according to South Korean media, Kim Chol was forced to stand on a spot that had been zeroed in for a mortar round and "obliterated."

He was not sufficiently sad that the old Kim bit the dust, they kept track you know. Those people with clipboards during the mandated organized cry-a-thons better record your name at least twice or you are off to the camps or soylent green factory

If there is nothing left, how can they prove he is dead? Dear Leader probably should have everyone associated with the alleged execution liquidated to punish them for casting doubt on the validity of the execution.

No, they don’t. They probably made his family pay for the mortar too.

Nothing endears the populace to a communist leader better than a public execution.

A mortar can be “zeroed in” on a spot but it probably won’t hit that spot. It’s not designed for pinpoint accuracy but for targeting an “area.” Single targets can be hit but it generally takes a round for effect then an adjustment from that initial burst.
