About 10 percent of the vote in Bernalillo County based on 2008 voter turnout has already been cast for the Nov. 6 election, according to the county clerks office.
And so far, Democrats are leading in numbers.
More than 53 percent of the early vote and absentee ballots have been cast by Democrats, although the party represents 46 percent of Bernalillo Countys registered voters. Setting aside absentee ballots, Democrats share of the early vote increases to nearly 56 percent of the vote so far.
Political analyst Brian Sanderoff said that early Democratic advantage in the countys ballot totals is a sign of excitement among the partys base.
Its a function of enthusiasm and organization, and its interesting. Its encouraging for the Democrats, Sanderoff said.

U.S. Senate Debate: Divided By Energy Policy
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Heather Wilson called Rep. Martin Heinrichs energy policy a green dream Sunday night while the Democrat insisted that wind, solar and other renewables are important energy sources of the future.Heinrich has ties to eco-terrorist Dave Foreman as reported on FR earlier (keyword Heinrich) but only reported here on FR and one local blog. Wilson has mostly ignored it except that in June she called his views "extreme."Youre pursuing this green dream, Wilson said. You keep advocating for companies like Schott Solar or Advent Solar or Johnson Tower and Control, and touting how many jobs theyre going to bring, and then they go bankrupt.
Those things arent a green dream, as my opponent likes to say, theyre putting people to work right here in New Mexico today, Heinrich said. Four times as many people close to five times as many people work in renewables directly today than in some of our traditional sectors like coal. We need to be thinking about our energy future in the long term.

Heather is doing a horrible job of this campaign.
>> Its a function of enthusiasm and organization...”
It’s a stronger function of free stuff, and race.
Is Romney even competing in New Mexico? I know in the past years it has been considered a swing state, but I haven’t seen it even mentioned in any of the ad expenditures. They seem to have decided it’s to far gone into the blue column and they are better off spending their money elsewere.
The 47% are a majority in NM
Fortunately it’s just NM. Hopes for victory for Romney and Wilson weren’t all that realistic anyway.
New Mexico is a big fat watermelon. One my best friends, from when I was a kid, lives there. She’s a greeny and is married to a frothing greenie. I love her and we don’t talk about that stuff.
I don’t really speak to her husband because algore enviornmentalism is basically his religion/science. Sad. He was pretty normal when she married him.
