HAVANA (AP) — A top executive at Havana's Hotel Nacional says that Fidel Castro made a public appearance there, challenging rumors that he is in ailing health.

Yesterday I saw a report that Castro was in a vegetative state. So now he is visiting hotels in Havana? What is going on? Also, this morning on Face the Nation, Bob Schieffer was cut off as he said "there have been reports of Fidel Castro...". CBS went straight to a commercial, cutting of Schieffer mid-sentence. Strange.

She [the hotel spokeswoman] said she was not present but that the news was being released officially by the state-owned establishment. LOL!

It reminds me of the old SNL skit about Generalissimo Francisco Franco. Franco kept showing up at all different kinds of places. Of course, he was still dead but that didn’t keep the state-run media from reporting it like everything was normal.
