Couple years ago I thought that the European art galleries should be replicating the masters and hiding the originals.
If only about three people in the world can tell the rel from the fake, then what does it matter? Crappy paintings are just that, crappy paintings, that hundreds of people can duplicate so accurately that you have to use scientific dating to even pretend you know which is which.
