Someone early in this thread stated that Christian leaders do more harm by getting caught in this kind of "affair" than all their enemies combined.

I'd paraphrase that to Many Christian hardliners do more harm by showing their unchristian selves when another Christian is accused.

That would fit alongside Many Christian hardliners do more harm by throwing rocks at allies they don't consider to be suitably chaste or capable of reciting psalms.

Then there is Those same hardliners are all too often practicing other than they preach.

Let's summarize:
Separated for two years at wife's determination.
Meets a very attractive alternative after 20 or so months separation and shortly thereafter initiates divorce proceedings.
Denies the unsavory claims of a story published in a tabloid run by the guy he replaced at the college.
Said article published just as his anti-Obama film goes to readily available DVD.

Any qualms about that description?

Absolutely willing to swear that you've never (that's not at any time in your life) screwed up or stood at the edge of orthodoxy?

Get a grip folks, this guy is more valuable to YOUR cause and to MY causes than anyone here other than Jim Robinson (and Sheriff Joe if he's a lurker, and for the time being at least, Mitt Romney, who you probably believe to be some kind of apostate).

Just get a grip!

Well, DARN! I really liked him. Now they’ll throw out all the information he’s put together and call it ‘tainted’. We’d have some good leaders if they could just keep it zipped up!

Maybe he has said nothing about why his wife wanted separation because it was her fault and he doesn’t want to shame her publicly.

Who knows. His business. Not mine. He’s apparently not perfect. Surprise, surprise. I suppose eventually people will learn more. But it’s a given that leftists want to destroy him, whatever the truth about him may or may not be.

Yep. 2016 comes out in the summertime. This story comes out in the fall. What a coinky-dink.

Since you are addressing my argument, I am going to respond.

Your retort is stupid.

The fact is most human beings are not infallible, but Dinest is a special case in the sense he is the chief Christian intellectual and apologist in the country, and has argued for objective Christian morality for decades.

He has made his entire career out of this.

This not some fallen average Joe Christian off the street who strayed from his wife.

And if he was innocent, he wouldn’t need to resign his position on King’s College.

As far as my own morality goes, I am not perfect, but I don’t go around the country and the world as a Christian apologist, and I am not the president of a Christian college.

If I was in his position, my behavior would be impeccable and beyond reproach.

And to top it off, 2016 just came out on DVD, and this story comes out. #TheChicagoWay

Maybe he has said nothing about why his wife wanted separation because it was her fault and he doesn’t want to shame her publicly.

I thought of that possibility. But then why did she tell him to leave, and not the other way around? Well, whatever happened, one thing's for sure: We will find out soon enough.

Let’s summarize:

Has writing career based on moralizing.
Makes living as president of Christian college.
Still married.
Commits adultery with woman 20 his junior.

Any qualms about that description?

I will not suggest that your response is "stupid". Intelligent people can disagree and they can act outside of their own strongly held beliefs without recognizing it.

It is not Christian, not ethical, and certainly not American, to hold kings to different standards than commoners.

We are not even talking about a king here...only a common man who has done more than most of us. Yes, we expect much of him. But his penance is not your call or mine and his contributions don't change.

Neither you nor I know the facts of this situation but the guy deserves something other than being shunned by his former adherents.

Is his mind effected because someone has accused him?
Is his mind effected because real life is potentially different than ideology?
Is divorce remarkably different than a separation...Oh, I forgot, divorce is a no-no for some sects and a mere formality in others, but who's keeping track?

By the way, would any civil divorce be satisfactory or would he need to get dispensation from some prelate to make it OK?

As to resignation and potential innocence, no institution named The King's College, or "Christian college" in the headline, is going to allow itself to be part of the dog fight these accusations are sure to create.

And as to If I was in his position, my behavior would be impeccable and beyond reproach: Best of luck to you sir or madam.

How do you know he committed adultery? You’re indulging in character assassination. There is no evidence whatsoever that he committed adultery.

So true. Although “Catholic” and “Kennedy” went together only in the most hypocritical sense...

Character assassination? He shared a hotel with a woman who is not his wife and whom he introduced to a number of people as his “finance”. What do you think he was doing? What kind of evidence do you need - a stained dress?

I keep posting this link over and over. There is no evidence whatsoever that he was having illicit sex. Why do so many here instantly think the worst? He just made a movie revealing a lot of the vile truth of 0bastard. Perhaps there is a connection between this story and his movie. Perhaps D’Souza is telling the truth and the accusers are lying. Bottom line is:

You do not know and neither do it. But a lot of you seem to be getting your jollies piling on, when the plain truth is that you do not know the facts.

‘2016: Obama’s America’ filmmaker—I am not having an affair
fox news ^ | october 17, 2012 | Dinesh D’Souza

Posted on Thursday, October 18, 2012 5:13:46 AM by lowbridge

A recent article in World magazine gives the false impression that I, a married man, had an affair with a woman Denise Joseph at a Christian conference in Charlotte, N.C. The article alleges that I shared a hotel room with her and introduced her as my fiancé. Finally it states that I filed for divorce only on the day I was confronted about my conduct by intrepid reporter Warren Smith. Here are the facts:

1. My wife Dixie and I have been separated for two years. Dixie approached me and demanded this [a separation] before I came to King’s College to become its president in late August 2010. I informed the chairman of the college about this at the time. I also informed the reporter who wrote the World article, Warren Smith, but he deliberately left it out of his piece, even though it is entirely relevant to the context.

2. I met Denise three months ago. We are not and have not been having an affair. Nor did we share a hotel room in Charlotte. Smith did not even ask me about this. Instead, Smith apparently deployed conference organizer Alex McFarland to call and raise the issue with me.

I clearly told McFarland that Denise and I stayed in separate rooms. McFarland knew he didn’t have what he wanted, because he subsequently called me back and asked me again. I realized McFarland may be fronting for Smith, so I told him I didn’t have any further comment. I’m not sure whether McFarland is lying or Smith is lying, but one of them made up the quotation attributed to me that we stayed in the same room but “nothing happened.” This is pure libel.

See my comment above. Are you so freaking lazy you can’t read another article about this? Are you so freaking lazy that you won’t do a little homework? Are you so hateful that you believe everything you read? Right now neither you nor I know the truth. D’Souza says the accusations are lies.

I am neither lazy nor hateful - I am cynical and skeptical. Assuming that one version of a story is true, I tend to believe the person who has less to gain by lying - in this case, it ain’t D’sousa...

LJ,

It doesn’t matter whether or not “illicit sex” was involved. It doesn’t matter if they shared a hotel room. He admits that he became engaged to this other woman before he filed for divorce from his first wife. The engagement alone is an act of betrayal. Being romantically involved with a woman who isn’t his wife is being unfaithful... UNLESS his wife herself had already moved on to someone else (if this is the case, then he should say so). Now the latest gossip is that the other woman herself is married. He will have to address that latest accusation sooner or later, too.
