Planned Parenthood spends another $800k on anti-Romney ads in swing states [$5.7M spent on election]

Washington, D.C., October 17, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Planned Parenthood’s political division announced yesterday their plans for an additional $828,000 in anti-Romney radio advertising in the swing states of Virginia and Colorado in the critical final days before the election. This brings their total investment in the U.S. election to $5.7 million, with much of that money being spent in those two states.

The new ad blitz was announced after a new USA Today/Gallup poll showed women in swing states moving toward Mitt Romney, with the two candidates now in a statistical dead heat among women in the states that could well decide the election.

The Planned Parenthood ad slams Romney for supporting a reversal of Roe v. Wade, and for his plan to block federal funding of Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood hopes the ad blitz will convince women voters to turn out and support President Obama. Obama has been a stalwart apologist for the group, mentioning them favorably multiple times during last night’s presidential debate and perpetuating false claims that the group provides mammograms and other vital health services unrelated to abortion and contraception. Obama has also been a staunch supporter of Planned Parenthood’s nearly half billion dollars in annual taxpayer funding, while Romney has promised to work to defund the abortion giant at home and abroad.

However, in light of another Gallup poll showing higher commitment to single-issue voting among pro-lifers, it’s possible the ad blitz will have the opposite effect, motivating opponents of abortion to turn out to vote for Mitt Romney.

An organization that receives taxpayer funding should not be allowed to run partisan ads.
