Turkey seized "objectionable cargo" aboard the Syrian passenger plane which it intercepted en route from Moscow to Damascus on Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, according to an AFP report.
"There is illegal cargo on the plane that should have been reported" in line with civil aviation regulations, Davutoglu was quoted as saying by the Anatolia news agency.
"There are elements on board that can be considered objectionable," he added, without elaborating.
The confiscated cargo might be missile parts, NTV news channel reported.
The plane, carrying 35 passengers on board, would be allowed to leave soon, Davutoglu said.
Meanwhile, Al Arabiya reported, Turkish authorities declared the Syrian airspace to be unsafe and were stopping Turkish aircraft from flying over the civil-war torn country.
TRT television said that a Turkish plane that had already taken off for Saudi Arabia made a detour and landed at a Turkish airport.
The incident occurred in the wake of a week of tension between Turkey and Syria, which began last Wednesday when a Syrian mortar landed in Turkish territory, killing five civilians in Akcakale.
The Turkish army responded by attacking several targets in Syria. Turkey's parliament on Thursday gave the government the green light to use military force against Syria if necessary.

Under the terms of the NATO treaty, an attack on one is an attack on all, which is why NATO is in Afghanistan. Under the terms of the treaty if Syria attacks Turkey, they have also attacked, the U.S., Britain, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Norway, Denmark and Portugal.
Ambassador Stevens’ real job was to funnel Khaddaffi arms to our Syrian “friends” who are proto Al Qaeda. The Obama Admin could never do that via legit channels, so they’re doing it the new Iran/Contra way —it’s OK cuz Barry is black, see? That makes it OK.
So with Syria a Russian client state, this will get us sucked into a war big enough for people to think the USA can’t affort to “switch horses in mid-stream”

And it IS true that US officials have told Syria that any baaaaad random “super pro Assad” guy there using chem weapons in their civil war is a red-line that would require the USA getting involved in a direct military way there, yup...
And then I thought about Fast & Furious, and how Barry was OK with two US cops dying in a large and amazingly ambitious effort using DEATH ON A LARGE SCALE to bring about the appearance of an EMERGENCY that required some pretty massive US soul-searching and change. Change, like legal changes, see? And extra policing and stuff, uh-huh...
And then I thought about how Barry was OK with HUNDREDS (so far) of poor brown Mexican people dying in his Fast & Furious scheme....
And then looking upon the Middle East I wondered if, as Barry faced the prospect of no-teleprompter debates with a long-time biz whiz, if Barry juuuuust miiiight:
