The European Union is poised to ban imports of Iranian gas into Europe as part of its efforts to ratchet up pressure on the Islamic Republic over its nuclear program.
The moves come as European governments and the United States are searching for new ways to pressure Tehran into scaling back its nuclear work after diplomacy foundered earlier this year. Tehran denies its work has any military intentions.

Europe just buys more natural gas from Norway, which is one of the world’s largest producers of natural gas. Because of Norway’s huge petroleum reserves, that’s why Norway can safely stay out of the Eurozone and its financial mess.
Norway is not untouched by the eurozone, being in the European Economic Area; members of that have to abide by EU regulations.
