RCP ^

Kit Bond -- a former governor, senator and decades-long fixture in Missouri Republican politics -- will endorse Todd Akin's Senate bid Friday, according to an Akin campaign source.

Bond's official backing of the embattled candidate could signal to the state’s GOP establishment that it's time to get behind the challenger’s effort to unseat Sen. Claire McCaskill now that that the deadline for him to withdraw from the race has passed.

Last month, Bond was at the forefront of a failed effort to persuade Akin to drop out after the Republican nominee made a controversial claim, for which he later apologized, that victims of

Akin’s poll numbers must be good. Those Frank Luntz ‘independents’ must be having voters remorse with the liberal Claire.

This is a good thing. Don’t be surprised - if Romney does well in the first debate - that more Republicans will choose to side openly with Akin.

I don't know which makes me feel better..
the potential to defeat McCaskill or
the potential to stick to all those RINOs that jumped on Akin like vultures.

It is surprising that Bond would take action independently of John C. Danforth.

Missouri (I was born in Columbia) has always been a battleground.

The State’s Rights faction is the more motivated in this election.

Rock on, Show Me State!

First let me say I don’t feel qualified to comment (but, hey, that’s never stopped me before, lol)

The only thing I will say with certainty is Akin made a stupid macaca statement. If he wins and beats McCaskill, I will cheer for him for (1) beating her and (2) standing up to the GOPe. It is a race I will watch.

'Asked directly if he considered Akin to be a better option for Missouri voters than McCaskill, Priebus did not hesitate. “Well, absolutely,” he said. “That’s a given, and as chairman of the party, I have an obligation to make sure we win as many seats in the Senate as possible.” MR. PRIEBUS, AKIN IS NOT ONLY A BETTER OPTION THAN CLAIRE MCCASKILL..AKIN IS MORE CONSERVATIVE THAN ROMNEY, BLUNT, BOND AND MOST REPUBLICANS RUNNING...PERIOD.

He did say something dumb, don't we all.

That said, not only will I get to watch, I'll get to pull the lever for him too.

I don’t see any way that someone that has to talk as much as politicians do can avoid a screw up from time to time.

I make bloopers...and I’m not on stage or a big talker.

(I have family in Southern Mo. It’s a beautiful state.)

Akin is going to win... It is true that he said a very stupid thing regarding rape and abortion but McCaskill is very much hated in Missouri so a majority of voters would accept Akin apology on the issue and vote for him...

I didn’t ever weigh in on Akin’s comments, but just quietly sat by and watched the mayhem ensue. He is a much better choice than Claire what’s her face. Sure, maybe he said something stupid, but zero and his side-kick, Dumb, Dumb Joe, say stupid things on a daily basis and all we hear are chirps from the media and GOPe.

Go Akin - give ‘em he** and take this seat.

While taking a nap this afternoon, I was awakened by a fund-raiser for the National Republican Party. I interrupted her, saying, "I am giving to Todd Akin. See you." She tried to say something, but I hung up.

They need to get the message.

I hope Akin wins, just to shove it to the idiots in the Pub Party who won’t back him even now. Initially, when he made his blooper, and it was simply that, there was the initial condemnations of what he said; it should have stopped then. To repudiate Akin and give the state of Missouri up to Claire and her Dem cronies over one blooper on Akin’s part, which, as a female, I didn’t find particularly egregious as I understood what he was trying to say, is particularly foolish of the Pubs. It’s time to sheath the swords and get behind Akin. Hope he wins by a high percentage and can then go to Congress and stick it in the face of his fellow Senators that squawked the most against him. Go Akin.

Pretty much now, if you are not supporting Todd Akin, you are not a conservative. Plain and simple

You are in the wrong political party if you get so worked up over a comment made by a person, who has repeatedly apologized for

LOL! Personally, I'd weigh the potential to defeat McCaskill to be more, but the potential to stick it to RINO's is pretty darn close! XD

Still, there's a little more than a month to go, and I'm certain the D'rats will pull out all the stops with some heavy mud-slinging, opinion poll-doctoring, union thug-intimidating, and voter-frauding. (Did I mention good ol' fashioned "cheating"?)

While I'm at it, I'd like to point to a Vanity Post I wrote late August: "Please Pray For Missouri." I pray that all Conservatives in Missouri (and in the whole Country) to keep up the fight, and that all Freepers (liberal trolls are excused...you know who you are) will continue your thoughtful prayers and positive support.
