On CNN News Analysis Show, Host Gives 15 Seconds to 'Stunning' Distrust of Media

On his CNN program Reliable Sources, the one that allegedly analyzes the news business and its performance, Howard Kurtz spent 15 seconds on what he called a "stunning verdict" on the American people's distrust of the "objective" press.

"I want to put up a chart," Kurtz announced on his way to a commercial break. "New Gallup poll showing distrust in the media. Look at that line, 46 percent back in 1997 had little or no confidence in the mass media. It's now up to 60 percent. It's a stunning verdict against our news business." That's it?

Kurtz wanted to move on to the a deep discussion of why presidential candidates would go on The View and Live with Kelly and Michael.

In fact, the TV networks really didn't want to discuss this Gallup poll over the weekend. They'd rather pound on Romney's poll ratings rather than their own. Fox News Watch didn't devote a segment to the poll either, but Jim Pinkerton spent more time on it than Kurtz:

The problem will never be fixed when they don't even care that fewer and fewer people trust them.

Why would Barry want to go on the View?

Whoppee would have his baby if she wasn’t post menapausal (and he wasn’t gay).

These people are DNC first and only.

The “journalism” thing is just their conceit. A quarter wasted on one of their newspapers is a quarter wasted. A half-hour wasted watching one of their “news” programs leaves you less informed afterward than you were before.

Most people sense that but too many people still turn to them in hopes of gleaning some morsel of actual information. There is a demand for actual information if someone is up for the challenge. Heaven knows there isn’t much competition.

Have you ever been stuck in an airport lounge waiting for a delayed flight? That's about the only time I ever watch CNN, and even then, I don't pay it much mind.

Same old Unreliable Sources, same old CNN. Kurtz is an elitist hypocrite and always has been.

Perhaps apocryphal, but the story is that when the wily old French diplomat Talleyrand finally passed away, the wily Austrian diplomat Metternich is reported to have said, “I wonder what he meant by that?”

Well, whenever I see news from the MSM, I always ask myself, “What’s their agenda this time?”

I feel certain that 8% = the percent level of respondents where are offspring of major network new anchors.
