It looks a lot like the F-22 Raptor

How does that stack up against ours...

The Chinese version has underpowered engines. Their prime target for this jet is an AWACS aircraft not a dogfight.

Are they making their own engines yet?

China now makes more than any other country.
Their exports improve every day, because we are sending our export factories there.
Chinese unemployment is very low.
We need to bring back American manufacturing. Now.

One of the most highly guarded secrets of the craft is that it is powered by renewable, green energy. Specifically, it runs by burning bales of marijuana, as can be seen looking into the exhaust pipes.

How does it even fly with two sleeping bags stuffed in the exhaust ports?

I wonder how this one related to the J-20? I’d think it might be the “low” end of a high-low mix ( like the F-16 is to the F-15 and the F-35 is to the F-22) but it looks pretty similar to the F-22.
Maybe the ChiComs are going for two “mid” optimized designs with the J-20 being an interceptor/interdiction platform (like the F-111 was supposed to be) and this J-21 being optimized for ACM.

Well, it’s an attractive aircraft.
More than I can say for most of what gets put out by their auto industry.

There are many mainland chinese nationals in our university grad schools, industrial research labs and probably our national labs. They know what we know. The US pays for the research and the chinese get the info for nothing.

Don't get carried away. The Il-38 "May" was supposed to be Russia's copy of the P-3 Orion. Instead, the Il-38 is a piece of crap.
