Mitt Romney has finally won his base by simply standing by a statement under scrutiny (why do I have the urge to talk to Governor Romney as I would my children after giving them medication for an illness, with a see, that wasnt so bad now, was it?).
Obama is criticizing Romney for his statements at a fundraiser where he admitted that he probably would not get the votes of the 47% of Americans who have become a victim class, dependent on Government for free stuff (paraphrasing). Obama turned down an invitation to meet with Netanyahu this week, so that he could be on the Letterman show and use that format to whack Romney on the issue.
Obama contends that Romney alienated almost half of the voters in the US, and that it means he wont represent them if elected President.
Defenders of Romney are pointing to the fact that less than 50% of people shoulder all the burden for all of America, and all of the charity she does around the world.
This does not indicate that Romney will not represent all Americans as president, but rather, that he understands who will support him, and what their likely motivation may be. The fact of the matter is that if your government check/job/handout is paramount to you as you survey the political landscape, you probably will not vote for Romney. He spoke a simple truth. This is practical, honest, and frankly refreshing to hear from an American politician. Romney said his own statement wasnt elegant, but it was honest and the Americans are starved for that sort of transparency in politics.
Michelle Obamas outfit for the Democrat National convention cost around 9k dollars. Where is the media obsession and outrage over this? The people she claims to represent (the poor, the needy) could never spend that on an outfit. It comes across as arrogant for this administration to believe it can spend like this while the people it purports to champion suffer. Furthermore, where is the media in asking Obama to help his own brother who lives in Kenya in profound poverty, and makes less than $1 per month? Could the millionaire President not spare a little social change?
Americans are acutely aware of that as they spend their paychecks to fill their gas tanks, and spend more in taxes than they have in the history. This president has tripled the debt, excused an unprecedented unemployment high, and he has the unmitigated gall to suggest that Romney is arrogantly ignoring peoples needs?
Further, Americans are looking down the road and realizing that their children will pay the debteach owing $250 k per child before they have ever had a chance to work! Children are sacred ground to Americans. Even if the statement by Romney took them aback for a moment, are they going to be ruminating on that as they approach Election Day, or the plight of their children, their jobs, and their country?
The economy and hypocrisy is paramount on the minds of enlightened voters as they survey the political landscape. The media might be obsessed with Romneys inelegant admission, but the rest of the country is looking at issues that matter. America is looking for a leader, and has been begging Mitt Romney to stand firm and lead. That is exactly what he did with this statement, and Americans can see that. Move along, LSM.
Agree with the sentiments of this article, but he needs to be passionate and forceful with this. He can use this to propel him to the Presidency, or he can be wishy-washy and be an also-ran in the history of American politics.
We need a statesman who is not afraid to pull punches. One that will talk to the people ABOVE the media with a strong, viral message of American pride. Now is the time, Mr. Romney. Take the opening, or go away.

Well said!
“America is looking for a leader, and has been begging Mitt Romney to stand firm and lead. That is exactly what he did with this statement,”
...now. PLEASE Mitt!! Don’t screw it up by saying “I like Obama! He’s a nice guy!” or “I believe we can all work together” or “I like a lot of what’s in Obamacare”. PLEASE!
I don’t know if his “47%” was by accident or he meant to be heard but I agree with the article that it will resonate with most Americans.
To me it’s just the Obama team trying to set up an argument that Romney IS NOT FOR the old folks that are on SS. Romney needs to keep hitting hard on how Ocare steals their money from Medicare. Putting those 2 together I’ll take and bet on Mitts side with an argument that can win. There is a record. MIT just talkin he doesn’t have any power to destroy like O does and has. The seniors need to keep hearing this. They are the key to this election. MR needs to reassure these people as there are definitely OUR VOTERS TOO in that 47%
And Alec Baldwin believes that if Obama were white, he’d be up 17 points in the polls.
The biggest problem is that Romney didn't even say the 47% who supposedly didn't pay federal income taxes are the same 47% he believes will vote for Obama under any circumstances ~ and that's a very big item BTW because you have several of America's best known super rich who will vote for Obama. There's Bill Gates and Warren Buffett for example ~ both very rich ~ so rich they make Romney look like a street urchin, and they pay taxes, and they're hard core Democrats.
I don't think your average potential voter can understand that ~ most Freepers can't either.

Compare this to the recent incident where a student at a Florida University was denied entrance to a rally on Campus grounds because he was a conservative and the rally was for Michelle Obama and her supporters only.
We are living in a totally polarized nation, it’s only the fence sitters who haven’t woken up to that fact yet.

If Obunghole were white....he’s be down 20 points in the polls and most likely on the short end of an impeachment trial.
Bare knuckles; the only way to go.

Mitt Romney recently said that 47% of the population pay no taxes while still receiving government benefits. This likely alienated the 47%, who Romney rightly noted are mostly voting for Obama. But it thrilled the 53% who do pay taxes. Because that 53% are sick and tired of moochers calling the shots.
Never before has the need for such a statesman been as great and he's the one now in position to be that man.
Step up, Mr. Romney. History and destiny are calling.

Actually we would never have heard his name, he would never have been picked and groomed and installed as a puppet if he had been pure Caucasian rather than mixed race.
