Should read “If Lennon turned conservative....” need a darned edit feature.
Chapman screwed up
he missed Yoko
“If Reagan turned conservative”
Or, maybe more accurately:
“If Reagan had turned Lennon into a conservative”
Maybe that was behind the assassination attempt..just saying.
“Sean Ono Lennon tells woman...”
“But Lennon’s sentiments were rather less high-minded on Monday when he was challenged on his views by Phelim McAleer, an Irish-born Los Angeles-based documentary film maker who is in favour of fracking taking place.”
Ummm, Phelim McAleer is not a woman. Daily Mail is getting downright sloppy.
“I have read that Lennon was a Reagan supporter in the 80s.”
No way. Lennon was one of the peaceniks.
“You say you want a revolution, well you know....”
Was written as a song critical of the anti-war demonstrations.
He did turn anti-war later though.
I read that too, not long ago. An assistant to him said that he had met Reagan in California awhile before, and had admired him. He was starting to get away from his old militant activist past, and he was embarrassed by it. This person said that he would actually get into arguments with leftists, even one close to the assistant, and make the person really angry with him!
I wonder if he knew who was/is behind some of these “peace” movements, saw them for what they were, and didn’t like it? Who knows? Ronald Reagan wasn’t a communist, so maybe that’s why John was comfortable with him; comfortable enough to want to support him, if not able to vote for him. I guess he wasn’t a citizen then, and couldn’t vote for him at the time.
I remember Rod Stewart’s ex-wife, Rachel Hunter was in the same situation. She wanted to vote for George W. Bush back in 2004. However since she was from New Zealand, and wasn’t a full citizen yet, she couldn’t! She did sort-of support him anyway and endorsed him!
Typical liberal tolerance.
My theory is similar. My theory is that he got a good look at some of the people behind the peace movement, and got worried/disgusted with them! He probably saw them for what they were. In this article I read, he had gotten away from his earlier activist life, and was a bit embarrassed by it. He started picking arguments with leftists he knew/would meet, and making them mad! I’m wondering if one of them might have been behind his death.
I know the guy who killed him was a crazed fan, but did someone put him up to it? Goodness knows? Maybe Ronald Reagan being a fellow performing artist and a kindly older man, Lennon might have seen him as a sort-of father figure! I say this, since his own dad was hardly ever in his life as a child and adult!
Did you ever read or hear that his own Dad was a musician? He even recorded at least one song? I don’t recall the title, but it is on “You Tube” somewhere. If you can find it and listen to it, there is a slight similarity in their voices even!
Oh he has a career himself, I believe! He plays guitar and sings. He’s friends with the other Beatles children, and is close to his older brother, Julian! Or, at least he was! He’s particularly close to George’s son, Dhani Harrison.
I read in a magazine a few months ago, that some of the sons of the Beatles were considering forming a band together! Paul’s son, James, one of Ringo’s sons,(younger one-Jason’s his name?), Julian or Sean, and George’s son-Dhani, were all thinking about it. I think all of them are with other bands at this time, or are in solo acts, so I don’t know if they will for the near future.
“I know the guy who killed him was a crazed fan”
Here in is the question....crazed by what? Was this a Lennon fan the was staunch adherent of the “Imagine” vision? If so, then it stands to reason that leftist ideologists, angered by Lennon’s betrayal, in their collective eyes, could have easily found an individual that psychologically could have been turned into a killer with timely and properly provided information leading to a thorough brain washing.....ergo, crazed.
Socialist ideology, which is an organized and inclusive opinion, is fragile without collective support. If this individual was guided into extreme emotional isolation, via this manipulation....the cracker cracked!
I, most certainly, would NEVER frack his mother. I’m surprised anybody did.
Here in is the question....crazed by what?....He had originally set off to kill someone equally famous (forgot who), but decided Lennon was more famous, therefore his crime would be more noticeable. I heard this, or read this, just last week somewhere. Didn’t take note of it much, because I don’t know or care for ANY celebrity. I only noted the motivation as a cause, criminalogicaly. (Is that a real word?)
“criminalogicaly. (Is that a real word?)”
It is for today.....thanks for the update.
