I am sick, sick, sick of headlines like this.
“Teen” charged....
as if “teen” were the most relevant identifying characteristic. And then, to compound it, they make sure to identify him in the first sentence as an “American man” and again in the second sentence as “a U.S. citizen.”
The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
This is obviously an attempt to cover the fact that he is one or more of the following:
1. Arab
2. foreign
3. black
4. Islamic
5. not born here
Point taken, but they did at least mention that the purpose of this was to wage violent jihad.
I’m intrigued by the vagueness about the bar. Was it a big tourist bar in the middle of downtown like Harry Caray’s or was it maybe in one of the smaller, peripheral “downtowns” away from the lakefront?
The mystery says to me that there is something counter to the narrative going on, here. Targeting a protected group.
