Students at North Dakota State University in Fargo and the University of Texas in Austin have been ordered to evacuate their respective campuses this morning because of bomb threats.
There was no indication that the two events were connected.
This alert was posted on NDSU's website:
"NDSU is requiring all employees and students to leave campus by 10:15 a.m. This includes residence hall students, who, if necessary, should walk to locations off campus. This also includes the downtown buildings and agricultural facilities. NDSU received a bomb threat, prompting this evacuation. Updates will follow."
The University of Texas has issued an alert on its website ordering an evacuation due to threats on campus.

umm, I an an alumni of NDSU.. weird..
WTF is going on?
If I had to guess, I’d bet this is a dry-run to see how first-responders react to incidents like this.
It’s too coincidental that this is happening now at 2 different college campuses in completely different states.
I think it will spread, just like the riots in the ME.
It’s a busy day.
Attacks breaking out against US and German embassies in multiple stops.
Multiple bomb threats at US universities.
China sends military ships into Japanese waters (perhaps taking advantage of the US being distracted with the middle east?)
Obama still on a fundraising trip.
Drudge has a link to this up:
The University of Texas is evacuating all of its buildings due to threats on campus after a caller claiming to be with al-Qaida said he placed bombs all over campus that would go off around 10 a.m. — which has since passed.

When I first heard about these bombing threats, my first thought was that it was a diversion to get all the students out in the same area and and have several terrorists in waiting to fire upon them...fish in a barrel. No way could someone put a bomb in every building on campus undetected (unless it was an employee).
back in the late 60s early 70s...the junior college I attended had bomb threats during finals week...at least one a semester.
it lasted a hour or so then back to class.
they take these things a little more seriously now....probably a good idea.
QUICK!! Get Obama and Hillary on the TV!! WE NEED ANOTHER APOLOGY!!
"NDSU is requiring all employees and students to leave campus by 10:15 a.m.," the alert reads. "This includes residence hall students, who, if necessary, should walk to locations off campus."
The alert added that the evacuation also covers the school's downtown buildings and agricultural facilities.
end snip
Two on the same day (and it’s not even Noon yet), given what else is going on seems like a lot more than a coincidence.
Wonder what would happen if there were to be a retaliatory bomb threat on a mosque or something? Would they even let the poilice in to sweep the place? Bomb sniffing dogs? I have no idea.
I teach at North Dakota State - students don't need much to divert them from school.
Quick, quick, let’s apologize loudly and repeatedly, hoping that the perpetrators may relent.
Sprinkle in a ‘allah akhbar’ here and there and promise to build more wash basins and prayer rooms on each campus.
Do it the real American way.
I'm in a cynical mood this morning in case you can't tell.
Are out children at risk of being killed, because Obama is dithering away on fundraisers instead of taking care of business?
This is no joke folks.
Actions (as well as lack of action) have consequences.

The time had already passed when they ordered the evacuation? Seems odd, though I do get it with such threats... There's just no way -not- to do it. The big clue though is that Al Queda doesn't call ahead.
TMA62 has this thread going about this possibly being coordinated:
