Welcome to 'Panthers Stadium' (UPDATED)
By MAGGIE HABERMAN | 7/17/12 7:38 AM EDT

National Democrats have repeatedly touted their stand against taking corporate money for their convention in September, and so it was striking to see two emails from the DNC host committee referring to the Charlotte venue where President Obama will speak as "Panthers Stadium."

It's the place where the Panthers play, but it's actually called Bank of America stadium.

A recent email from the host committee signed by former Al Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile urged people to win a trip to Charlotte for the event, which will wrap "Thursday night at Panthers Stadium with President Obama."

Probably not allowed by Bank of America, which cannot be seen to be endorsing one party over the other.

But an NFL team would endorse one party over the other? I'm not buying it.

They're hosting their convention at the new "Black Panthers Stadium?"

Do "The New Black Panthers" provide security for the event?

That came to my mind as well. Could be a ‘dog-whistle’ moment like the Left are so fond of accusing us of..

I certainly hope that some on the conservative side have the balls to make this a public issue.

The democrats having the Black Panthers provide
security to their convention would be like having
the Hell’s Angels provide security at
Altamont Speedway.

Bank of America probably paid dearly for naming rights to the stadium. I’m sure they have a contract that requires the team to use that name.

I would also think they would write it into each contract that every event call it by that name as well. The amount of exposure during a national convention is huge. Why would they give that up for no gain? I would require either proper naming for an event or a fee for temporary renaming of the stadium.

“Bank of America probably paid dearly for naming rights to the stadium.”

Part of a bailout deal?

Does the stadium have signage with the BOA name/logo on the outside/inside of the stadium, and has that been removed for the RATS?

I think I see how they plan to fill the seats in the stadium. There was an article yesterday in which the Obama team promised that the stadium would be filled on Thursday night when Obama speaks.

Breaking!!!!...early pics of the Obama delegates/supporters arriving for early seating. By all indications Obama will blow the capacity crowd away...

Note: none of the supporters were available for comment.

Offer people free transportation, lodging, food....Commie groups & totalitarian regimes use this all the time to get people to turn out to their rallies.

Expand the first picture there, up on the upper right. It’s a 2006 picture so I don’t know if they’ve changed it, but back then the B of A exterior signage was very prominent. Nothing that can’t be either (a) fixed with massive banners of The Won or (b) blithely ignored by the MFM talking heads as they worship at The Won’s golf shoes.

Wonder if the NFL has anything to say about copyright infringement.

I know you can't use the term "Super Bowl" without permission.

Good question. Probably not since those things are probably huge.

But I am sure the compliant media will make sure that no video will clearly show the bank's name.

Panthers stadium. I figured they would pull that to avoid the BOFA label. Should be fun to watch the convention site on Fox rightfully referred to as Bank of America Stadium while MSNBC cooperates with the DNC mislabeling it as Panthers Stadium.

Sorry to be crass but this is such bullshhhht. If the media complies and calls it Panther Stadium instead of it’s real name I gonna be a little aggravated.
