Rush Limbaugh: Clint Eastwood ‘got under Obama’s skin’ By: Katie Glueck August 31, 2012 02:37 PM EDT

Rush Limbaugh is one of the few people praising Clint Eastwood’s rambling performance at the Republican National Convention, saying Friday that the Hollywood legend’s “great bit” involving an invisible President Barack Obama in an empty chair “got under Obama’s skin.”

“This is a great bit, and Eastwood was the essence of simplicity,” Limbaugh said, according to a transcript of his show. “How, if somebody’s not doing a job, you let ‘em go. Just simple as it could be. Real world simple. Plus, it was hilarious. It was funny. Of course, we are people who like laughing at Obama. The other side doesn’t.”

Eastwood’s description of Obama’s 2008 victory speech in Grant Park — “Oprah was crying,” he said — especially resonated with the conservative talk show host.

“He was talking about Obama and Grant Park after the election,” Limbaugh said. “All these people, the zombies, are lighting candles. They don’t even know why they’re there. They just feel good. But if you ask ‘em why, you’d get spaced-out, Oprah-type answers. And then to throw in Oprah was crying? I mean, I’m sorry, that hits me right in the heart.”

Limbaugh referenced an Obama campaign tweet responding to Eastwood’s speech, featuring a photo of the president sitting in a chair and the tagline, “This seat’s taken.” That picture, Limbaugh said, was proof that Eastwood’s message had rattled the president.

Hope we see an empty chair following mitt to louisiana and every where else . It should be a permanent icon for the rest of the campaign

There needs to be an empty chair at every campaign event from here on out!

I said on another thread that it should have a golf club or bag leaning against it.

Obama is so thin skinned he (or somebody on his Twitter account) had to respond. A Reagan or even Dubya would have just laughed it off.

Given the hysteria the media is in about it, pretty clear they understand just what a blow this was to 0’s carefully manufactured PR image.

When your all image and no substance like 0, what Eastwood did is utterly devastating. He made it acceptable to average people to laugh at Obama. Scorn and ridicule is kyptonite to cult of personality candidates

From comments at the link;

“Does this guy have any advertisers, yet?”

Another;

“He is down to public service announcements. He has no advertisers.

“Rush has met his intellectual match.
An 82 year old senile man.”

Two words about Clint's address at the convention: :

"IT WORKED!".

I agree. Eastwood is a genius and the liberal claims of his rambling are proof.

At the risk of injuring his delivery, I'd offer the entire speech went according to plan. ;)

Eastwood dealt the GOP pair of aces. That should make three now, if they get to play the hand.

He made it acceptable to average people to laugh at Obama.

Exactly. I've been saying this all day. It was brilliantly performed, even down to his appearance and doddering manner. And his references to "He can't do that to himself" were in-your-face references to Obama's repeated use of the middle finger, especially during Paul Ryan's remarks at the Obama healthcare summit.

So today, the MSM is off their script. Normally they'd be tearing the convention apart, especially Romney's speech last night. But no, Eastwood ran cover and all we hear about is his performance. Meanwhile, Romney jumps the shark and heads to LA to tour the flood areas with Bobby Jindal, causing Obama to hastily put together a visit on Monday. I just love it.
