LOL, the USA, having earned the dubious rank of being among the top 10 (if not 5) countries that abort foetuses (over 50 million and counting since 1973, and several millions more before that - 800,000 abortions a year* in the USA in the 1930s) both per-capita and in aggregate numbers, that sentence sounds a lot like chutzpah.
Many more abortions are committed in China than in the US, at least 13 million per year.
How do you think China enforces its "one child" policy? They don't even pay lip service to women's rights there--they send vans around to towns and forcibly drag women in for abortions, regardless of the stage of pregnancy. And if they successfully hide, and are found out about anyway, their husbands may be beaten and tortured to force them to submit. Another consequence of "one child" is that women learning they are pregnant with a daughter abort her in order to try again for a son. Or, having already given birth to a daughter, they discard the child so that they can try for a son. I'll bet most of the children this woman rescued are girls.
If you read my earlier comment again, it won’t be too difficult to realise that the point I was making didn’t have anything to do with denying China’s participation in human slaughter by way of abortion, but of the implicit moral hypocrisy in the judgment by the editor of the American Live Wire, when America’s own significant participation in abortion is not only ignored, but the deliberate non-acknowledgement also used to create a moral contrast, which only works if you assume America doesn’t involve itself in abortion.
Whether it’s 13 million a year (China’s figures) or 1.3 million a year (US figures), the numbers really don’t matter much with regard to the point I was putting across.
