In China a sad reality exists. Children are sometimes discarded as if they are not even humans. The babies are thrown into trash bins, rivers, and lakes to name a few.

But, one amazing woman Lou Xiaoying, 88 has been a mother to many of these babies who were orphaned or discarded into trash bins.

Lou has been responsible for saving over 30 abandoned babies from dumps, and trash bins, in her amazing life. As Lou lies on her death bed, China and the world are honoring her via social media, and regular media outlets for her great contribution to human rights.

God love this woman.
She may not believe in God, but I’ll bet He believes in her.

Christians in China are not always obvious, because of the official opposition to the religion (unless practiced in state sanctioned churches, or by foreigners). Why would she go to this kind of trouble though. It’s beyond mere human.

I haven’t seen any mention of this woman being a Christian, and most likely none exist, going by her name.

That said, the lead sentences of this article from the American Live Wire caught my attention: “In China a sad reality exists. Children are sometimes discarded as if they are not even humans...”

LOL, the USA, having earned the dubious rank of being among the top 10 (if not 5) countries that abort foetuses (over 50 million and counting since 1973, and several millions more before that - 800,000 abortions a year* in the USA in the 1930s) both per-capita and in aggregate numbers, that sentence sounds a lot like chutzpah.

Lou sounds westernized as opposed to Lu.

But the Xiaoying name sounds as typical of China as Smith would be of the USA.

Sad to admit, but in The time of Vincent de Paul, many a poor girl threw her baby into the river. He determined yo start a home for these little ones, but such was the social stigma that he found great resistance from his own followers. He shamed them by taking in and caring for them himself. That is why God sends us saints: we learn best by example.

I wish I had a source to post, but I have read that the underground Christian church in China is massive...to the point that the government is getting nervous because there are now estimated to be more Christ-followers in China than there are members of the Communist Party. If I can locate the source, I’ll post it.

Yes, but we keep all the horror behind closed doors and keep the streets neat and clean. We have professionals to mop up the mess. America! What a country.

“CHINA is cheering her too? I thought they were still hard nosed about this sort of thing.”

The Chinese people are better than their government.

Sort of like America.

An online fundraising effort has been started to help offset the woman’s hospital bills,

But ...but...but... healthcare is FREE in China!

The publications, A Kernel of Wheat and A Foreign Land, were started by members of China's 40-million strong "house church" movement, an underground network of Christians who meet in private homes

Wiki says Chinese government acknowledges 14 million Christians in China, believed 70 million not included in that figure. [#'s to 100mn]

Her life demonstrates that any person, no matter what their status and standing, can make a huge difference in the life of others if they are only willing to love. This is an inspiring story of a beautiful woman worthy of respect and celebration.

Thanks for sharing!

When we adopted our daughter in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, there was a Catholic church nearby with Chinese members, openly practicing Catholicism. When we asked if there was a Catholic church in the area, people were helpful and told us where it was.

Isn’t it true that despite her exceptional good works, not being a Christian means she will be condemned to eternal damnation? In other words, go to hell? I am not trying to pique Christians by this question. This just troubles me.
