Many here in his hometown of Austin have the same opinion of him. I haven't liked him since he treated his first wife so badly. Nothing physical that I've heard but just ugly. He has tested positive for drugs but in low enough numbers and supposedly from topical creams that he passed. If a high schooler can cheat on a pee test, then it's a cake walk for a pro.

At any rate, I have a hard time treating an athlete like a god who can do no wrong simply because he WINS, and find it both amusing and annoying that so many assume LA is above repproach simply because he is LANCE ARMSTRONG.
Many seem to have the opinion that the baseball dopers aren’t heroes — the same ones who seem to believe Lance IS a hero BECAUSE HE IS LANCE ARMSTRONG.
Mary, you’re pretty darned sure aren’t you. How long has it been since Armstrong’s last Tour de France race, and yet they’ve been trying to prove him a cheat since, and still haven’t been able to do so.
Tell you what, after you have had to hire a legal defense team and spend years defending yourself against nothing more than an assumption, after all physical evidence has cleared you, perhaps I’ll consider your opinion here as being more dignified than flatulence.

I’m no fan of Armstrong, but the effect this had on me was that you can’t trust the results of these events any more, even for a decade or more.
The fact is that he passed over 500 drug tests and failed zero. If they want to revisit stuff as far back as a single year, fine, but older than that should be off limits if, for no other reason, to preserve the sport.
Frankly, I don’t care if I ever see another tour and I own them on DVD. That is probably not the effect they were going for.
