An anti-Obama documentary based on conservative author Dinesh D’Souza’s book The Roots of Obama’s Rage will expand nationwide this weekend after doing notable business in select markets across the country -- including in liberally minded New York City.
Overall, 2016: Obama's America grossed an impressive $1.2 million last weekend as it upped its theater count from 61 to 169 for a total gross of $2 million, the second-best showing of the year for a documentary after Bully ($3.2 million). That doesn't include nature documentaries Chimpanzee ($29 million) and To the Arctic ($7.6 million).
It's already the No. 12 political documentary of all time -- a market that Michael Moore has cornered -- as well as the No. 2 conservative documentary after Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed ($7.7 million).

Popular or not, Dinesh D’Souza, do not expect an invitation to the White House anytime soon.
Wish a condensed version of 2016 could be seen on primetime TV before November.
$2m is incredible for a doc, esp when you consider that Palin’s movie only made about $400k in theaters (although the producers did get a great up-front deal with Wal-Mart.)
When will Axelrod start screaming about Zero being Swiftboated?

With this weekend’s upcoming theater expansion up over 1000 theaters, if 2016 does well this weekend, expect an explosion of viewership across the nation!!! Keep your fingers crossed, folks!!! Nothing succeeds like word of mouth input!!!
Saw it on Sunday in a FULL house. It was VERY well done. No tirades or inflammatory tone, just facts that most folks may not know about. I could, and probably will recommend it to my decidedly left leaning thoughtful, if politically misguided friend ; )

Heard D’Souza say in an interview is that his goal is to draw enough attention to this film that the Left is forced to respond to it, thereby drawing Barry into a debate about his past.

Box Office Mojo (one of the best sites for box office info) had the weekend figures listed, but not the daily ones. That may be because the daily figures aren’t being reported, as it is only in 169 theaters at this point. It banked just shy of $1.3 MILLION this past weekend, for a total of just over $2 MILLION to date. It was ranked #13 out of all films currently showing in America. You can also use BOM to see if the film is playing in your area; although the 2016 movie website gives you a current/opening soon list by state...major expansion coming this weekend.

How do we find out where its playing? All fandango tells me is that I’m Oit of luck and nothing more...
Looks like he's finally got his wish via an extensive documentary about him.
The only thing that I felt was odd was the producers’ acceptance of his claim to being born in Hawaii in 1961.
It would be the icing on the cake to see another doc made exploring all the inconsistencies in his forged past, enough grist for another full length film.

1.2 million. Sheesh Diary of a whimpy kid made 34 million. There should be way more people wanting to see an anti-Obama movie then their are wanting to see a children’s book.

I'm going this weekend.
You make a point that is more disturbing than the concept of someone like Barack Obama being elected.
Elections can be reversed by another election. Campaigns can be won.
But the fact that this country is populated by enough people who even consider voting for him, never mind the glassy-eyed ones with the flushed faces who chant “O-BAM-A” over and over, is completely distressing.
We may not be able to overcome that, the idiocy of a large swath of the electorate.

In Liberal CA, 2016 has been playing to “sold out” audiences with the audience standing and chanting at the end of the show: “USA,” “USA,” “one-term,” “one-term.” My neighbor called all her friends and told them that they “have got to see 2016.” Word of mouth to go see the movie is going viral and people are standing in long lines to see the movie.
Get there early!!! I’m sure Barry and his Regime aren’t concerned about 2016 as they’re not concerned about the Special Ops YouTube either. After all, only 3 million views in less than a week.
It opens here (Tidewater VA) this weekend. I CANNOT WAIT to see it! OBTW an enterprising youngster could make a small fortune selling anti-Zero bumper stickers, t-shirts etc. after a weekend showing, imo.
