Akin Tells Hannity That Romney Exploited Rape Statement Controversy For Political Gain
Mediate ^ | Tuesday August 21, 2012

Appearing on Sean Hannity’s radio program for the second time in as many days, Missouri Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin attacked the GOP’s presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, for joining a chorus of Republicans asking him to withdraw from the race. Akin said that Romney had blown the controversy out of proportion and implied that he had done so for his own political gain.

Hannity asked Akin, given the number of prominent Republican politicians asking Akin to drop out including Romney, if he is even pausing to consider leaving the Senate race in Missouri.

“Let me ask you this,” Akin began. “If you were in Romney’s position, don’t you think that he may have bid this thing up and made a bigger deal about it than he needed to?”

“Why couldn’t he run his race and I run mine,” asked Akin. “If things really look like they’re getting in trouble in Missouri than maybe — but he has just assumed.”

Always good to throw your new (potential) boss under the bus before either of you are hired.

The abortion loving RINO mitt threw Akin under the bus first. Every time mitt opens his mouth is one more reason not to vote for him.

>>Like Rush said -- the Democrats circle the wagons, the Republicans form a circular firing squad.<<

Actually, Rush has never been one to circle the wagons and defend the indefensible. Ever.

He tells the truth, and calls em like he sees em.

For example, from his transcript today:

Akin's Remark was Stupid and Untrue -- Now He Must Put the Nation's Future First

Whether he wins or not (and I don’t think he will - he posted a distorted poll, and a more objective one already shows him losing), he’s going to give the Dems something to harp on from now to the election. And in fact, by the time the election rolls around, even Missourians won’t vote for him. They may not vote for McCaskill, but they will essentially do so by not going to the polls if Akins is the candidate.

He should leave now, except that his giant ego is blocking the exits. And btw, most of the people in your tag line have been telling him to leave.

Yeah, right. Romney made him go out and make a fool of himself.

“Why couldn’t he run his race and I run mine,”

You did run your race, fool, and you misstepped badly. Why couldn’t you control your stupid dumbf**k mouth and have answers for the top ten gotcha questions so you don’t have to make them up on the spot and look like a flaming moron when you stumble? Really stupid. And stupid that we have to waste energy on this. And stupid that this is what’s important when the country to is going straight to hell.

(I'm still amazed that a plurality of Alaska voters could spell "Murkowski".)

As I recall they didn't have too. Pretty much any scribble with an M in front was accepted.

Politics is full of arrogant ego driven sob’s like Akin, so not surprised that he is not quitting.

I'm waiting for him to say, "Ahhh, but the strawberries, THAT'S where I had them!"

You never fail to crack me up! At work, when my colleagues down the hall hear me chuckling, I tell them it's good ol' dfwgator striking with his keen wit on FR. Your sense of humor and movie references are spot on. You're not Gordo, are you? :-)

And here in Va. George Allen has a tight race and has strong pro-life views...

“George Allen on Monday was among the first Republican U.S. Senate candidates to publicly condemn Missouri Rep. and Senate candidate W. Todd Akin’s remarks...”

That takes the heart out of the ‘Repubican war on women’ meme. Everybody can ride this train- and it’s just politics.

Most? Palin and Newt haven't weighed on it as far as I know. Don't know about Trump either, but obviously I don't agree with Trump's stand on social issues. My tagline is about how Romney's GOP is not allowing any Republican who isn't an establishment lapdog to speak at the convention. Doesn't mean I always agree with them, but they're certainly far more interesting than the usual boring country club Republicans that Romney represents.

So how does Todd Akin feel about George Allen’s “macaca” comments?

I’m happy Akin is attacking Romney. It makes it easier for RR to dissociate themselves from him.

And I agree with his statement-Romney did use this to distance himself for gain. Ryan and Aiken are suppose to be close friends and agree on many stances. It's political ..Romney is a coward to take on the issue. There sure are a lot of people here who are driving this with emotions and their fly off the mouth anger. The potted walk in republicans are the most furious.

Missouri was a must have state. It’s now gone and with that the election. All the rest is a waste of time and money. Just goes to show it’s always your own side that puts the real screwing to you. Spot the Stupid Party 20 points in a game of 21 and they will find a way to lose. EVERY FREAKING TIME!

“He will be voicing his opinion here on out on numerous of issues and make more stupid comment to the glee of the media and Dems”

Good point. It can only get worse from here. The sad point is, Akin is clearly delusional and has no clue how much damage he's doing to the country.
