Presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan was heckled Monday by protesters at a campaign event in Iowa.

Time senior political analyst Mark Halperin told MSNBC's Chris Matthews these were Democrats "on duty" (video follows with transcript and commentary, photo courtesy Des Moines Register):

CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Anyway, Paul Ryan was met by a loud group of protesters today who joined his supporters at the same state fair event in Iowa. They booed and yelled throughout his ten minutes, but he handled it pretty well. Let's watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PAUL RYAN: My guess is - [Interrupted by protesters] - my guess is the reason President Obama isn't making it here from Council Bluffs because he only knows left turns.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

MATTHEWS: Well, there you have it, Howard. Let's talk in human terms. How is he handling his first couple of days out there as the new kid on the block?

HOWARD FINEMAN, HUFFINGTON POST: Well, Mark and I have both seen him in action. At least I've seen him here. I haven't seen him in his district. I mean, he's a born pol. He's excellent at it. He's well liked. He's solid on his feet. He's good on the campaign trail.

Why was a deputy {ably} handling this?
Where is the US Secret Service?
Why was a nutball allowed to get anywhere near the VPOTUS with a backpack?
...and while I give kudos to Paul Ryan for standing his ground and being unflappable, next time get the heck away - not all nutjobs wear turbans and robes.

I agree. I saw the whole video on YouTube and there is no way in hell those 2 should have ever been able to get that close to Ryan. Not this election. The SS better get their shit together because the Obamassiah's crazed followers have seen a year of OWS protestors get away with murder, and its giving them ideas ...

re: “Where is the US Secret Service?”

My thoughts as well as I watched that video. How in the world did those “women” (I use the term loosely) get that near to the stage that they could climb up on it without being tackled by secret service?

I’m assuming that presidential/vice-presidential candidates were assigned a secret service detail - or, is that not the case?

"brown shirts"

Libs get quite perturbed on other internet talk forums and other venues when you point out to them that only libs and leftists try to disrupt speeches of people who disagree with them. Which does indeed make them fascists.

Since they have no ideas of their own, they are highly offended by any who does. Especially a guy who doesn’t read every word off a teleprompter.

You are absolutely correct. Look up the history of the Sturmabteilung (SA) movement in the Nazi Party and the SA's tactics are literally right out of what you see from too many Democrats nowadays.

It was the Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund...they “claimed responsibility” so to speak.
