Palin will not speak at Republican convention
WASHINGTON | Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:36pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will not speak at the Republican nominating convention in Tampa later this month, she said in statement on Sunday.

"This year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I'm excited to hear them," Palin, who was Senator John McCain's running mate in the 2008 election, said in a statement on Gretawire, the blog of Fox News's Greta Van Susteren.

Then, it looks like this will be the first GOP convention on television since 1976 that I won’t be watching. And it’s probably a good thing I won’t, as it will only keep stoking the fires of my new and ever-increasing anger and distrust towards the Party, now that it has basically jettisoned every core conviction that it once drew me towards it. Romney/Rove and the whole GOP establishment want nothing of small-government, reform, traditional values, the Tea Party nor Palin. Well, then they can just go burn in hell.

But why does McCain get to speak? What does he have to say

"My friends, we have nothing to fear from a second Obama term."

Nothing about whether she will speak or not but rather is she going to the convention..

Right, and nothing that says she won't be going, or won't be speaking either, as Reuters is misreporting. We'll see at 10pm whether or not she's going, as possibly whether or not she's speaking.

I don’t generally disagree...although I think Sarah let her supporters down. I never expected her to get a seat at the table. However, having McCain speak is just lame.

It is time to move on if you really want to get on with it.

That means no more Bush, no more Palin, and certainly no more McCain.

“ladies like Thatcher or the Queen Elizabeth”

LOL, so Sarah should try to emulate snooty formal British women who act like they have a stick up their azz? Please. And the Queen? A wacky combo of leftish monarchist British motherhood crap that is well-chronicled in “The Wall” by Pink Floyd.
I appreciate your take on Sarah’s effectiveness, but i’ve never heard her “screech”. The only time she spoke in a non-standard tone, is when she had to be heard above a yet another wildly enthusiastic noisy crowd.

That screeching accusation is nothing but code for, “she didn’t come from a school and class of society we approve of”. That and a fetish some people have for cold emotionless business CEO types. If she sounded like Thatcher, the Queen, Laura Bush, Elizabeth Edwards, or Carolyn Kennedy, i wouldn’t like her anymore.

I defy you to post a video of her “screeching” that doesn’t feature her trying to be heard, often in the rain, at some noisy rally.

“Sarah speaking at romney’s convention would be like Led Zeppelin opening for the Monkey’s.”

Exactly

If this story is accurate, it's not a “Big Mistake”, it's a Huge Mistake.

As much as I truly dislike Obama and his Administration, Gov. Romney and his Party are going to have to earn my support. Again, predicated on whether this story is correct, such an omission would be counter productive in firming up the base, more like a slap in the face to many Conservatives.

I don't watch a bunch of things. State of the Union Show? Nah. Presidential speeches? Why bother? I get plenty of info right here.

Exactly, Romney may get my vote. But i won’t give it if i’m being insulted BEFORE the election. And insulting Sarah in any way tells me exactly what he thinks of me.

Mr. RomneyCARE has a history of abusing
Gov. Palin through surrogates,
so this is a big mistake on HIS part.

Also, Mr. RomneyCARE represents DEATH PANELS, and
she named them. So, this is a swing to the support
of RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE/DeathPanels by the GOPe.

Agreed. And as i said, sometimes i do think ABO. I think Obama intends to move into the full revolutionary endgame. But if we cannot influence Romney GOPe now, why would we be able to after the election.

His treatment of Sarah is my canary in the coal mine. Sometimes, in quiet moments, i think it would be nice to kill the GOPe now. Then run someone conservative in 2016.

Nowhere in her statement does Palin say she will not speak.

Correct.

Reuters is just trying to stir up anger as usual.
