Palin will not speak at Republican convention
WASHINGTON | Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:36pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will not speak at the Republican nominating convention in Tampa later this month, she said in statement on Sunday.

"This year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I'm excited to hear them," Palin, who was Senator John McCain's running mate in the 2008 election, said in a statement on Gretawire, the blog of Fox News's Greta Van Susteren.

Greta says we need to tune in at 10pm tonight to find out whether or not she will speak. The Reuter's story is jumping the gun. It may or may not be correct.

Good deal.

“She DID quit. She can get back into the game thru a Cabinet post and/or running in 2014 for the senate seat. Otherwise she’s just an ornament-not serious.”at’

Yeah, and George Washington quit when he retreated from New York rather than face certain annihilation in an unfriendly environment (New York was full of Loyalists) that limited his maneuvering room.

One must sometimes reposition in order to strike back and eventually win. History is full of General Custer's who just refused to acknowledge reality and give up some ground when necessary. Sarah has handled things admirably in this regard and is now a more powerful force for conservatism than she could possibly have been in the Little Big Horn of the Alaska Governors Mansion.

To claim she's just an ornament simply doesn't compute given how she's dominated so many news cycles and positively affected so many local and national races.

I've got my own gripes with Sarah - things like her tendency to screech when she gets excited (she should study the delivery of ladies like Thatcher or the Queen Elizabeth who didn't need to scream to be heard) and tendency to focus on “girl power,” but calling her a quitter confuses tactics with strategy. She's executing a brilliant strategy.

No matter what Sarah thinks or feels privately, her public response, just like it is so far, will be a long run positive for her.

Sarah always takes the high road.
She instinctively knows which path is the right one.
So many could learn from her but they feel threatened by her insight and strength.

She wasn’t invited. All told, I think she’s being quite gracious about having been slapped in the face.

She has been very enthusiastic about Ryan and endorsed both of them yesterday.

She was the VP candidate the last time around, after all, and they should at least be courteous and invite her.

That said, members of polygamist sects have problems dealing with independent women, and I think Romney is displaying this and should reassess his behavior right now. He’d do himself a serious favor by asking her to speak, and if nothing else, he should remember that she has a lot of devoted followers and he doesn’t, so he needs them.

It would be unfortunate not to have Sarah speak at the convention. She is a star and the democrats fear her. She has a rare talent for connecting with folks. We need her voice and active participation these next 3 months.

I love Sarah! Always a team player, and yet not being watched closely nor held on a short leash. This ought to be good.

Sarah speaking at romney’s convention would be like Led Zeppelin opening for the Monkey’s.

Quote from Greta.

....GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN goes ON THE RECORD at 10pm — is she going to the Republican National Convention? Find out …tune in!...

Nothing about whether she will speak or not but rather is she going to the convention..

Really? GW quit his position, went back to Mt. Vernon, trademarked his name, wrote a book, went on a book tour and spent the rest of the war kibbutzing from the sidelines? I don't remember learning that part.

Real conservatives are persona non grata at the GOP-e convention. Yet we should all fall in line for these asses.

If she was a “D” and went around crying because GTown U wasn’t going to pay for her birth control, she would be invited to speak at the Convention.

Or if she wanted to be a ‘real hero(inne)’ she could camp outside BO’s home - Oh, wait, he doesn’t go to his own home anymore - These last two D’s we have had had NO home to go to, and relied on their ‘rich’ friends and cronies to accommodate them.....WJC gave his underwear to charity, maybe BO is renting his house out?

Folding your hand does not mean you quit. All you do it wait for a better opportunity. The opportunity was not in 2012, but will be later.

Agreed! I hope to God she goes and tries to be just a bystander... And I hope she is ambushed by the crowd and that she STILL steals attention away from the RINOS.... YEA, I said it... ;o)

They’re quoting what she said on Fox News today and Greta has since posted to her site.

A couple of weeks ago Palin reported the convention planners had reached out to inquire about her interest in speaking, and she responded that she’d need to know more details.

So my guess is they never got back to her or they got back offering her 10 minutes at 4 PM on Tuesday afternoon.

Ed Rollins? Is that you?

By the way “not serious” is going to put a serious dent in the RINO population. Imagine what she could do to the dems if the libpublicans weren’t the dems biggest allies.
