Only a rat could be so willfully stupid to list as gun free zones the kinds of locations just in the news! IIRC, houses of worship were targeted at least three times in recent years: the Sihk temple last week, the church in Colorado where Jeanne Assam(sp?) killed the bad guy and a church in Texas a few years ago.

Unfortunately, Heller vs. DC, upheld gun free zones and other designated ‘areas’ by Gov’t.

AGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! “and prohibit permit holders from carrying guns in places like churches, bars and movie theaters.”.......................... AGRRRRRRRRR! Yeah, lets leave people completely helpless so a Perp or terrorist has no problem killing them all. Only a genius Democrat would suggest something like that. I bet he carries and has a body guard too.

Someone needs to send this guy some pro-firearms information to read. Pretty sure his staffers only let him see Brady pamphlets.

Is Maryland resigned to shall issue concealed carry? The other states in the 4th Circuit have it: VA, WV and NC, IIRC. I don’t think O’Malley would sign a law for shall issue until MD took it to the Supreme Court, unless it had a naked man provision like in Colorado, i.e. the applicant is an obvious nut job. He might refuse to sign it even with such a provision.

“....requiring concealed-carry permit applicants to provide “good and substantial reason” for needing firearms....”

.
Whaaat? Isn’t the high crime rate good enough reason for CC?

Will all the elites have to justify the firearms carried by their body guards?

"I think gun advocates and folks in favor of gun control should both agree that if you're going to carry a gun and it's concealed, you certainly should be trained with it beforehand," he said.

Probably a good idea. And I'm sure we can all agree that anything that most people describe as a "good idea" should definitely be mandated by the government and their betters' activities tracked.

[do I really need a /s here?]

The bill would require applicants to complete training six months before requesting a permit, but would exempt law enforcement and military members.

So let me see if I have this straight: rights for free people, not so much; rights for free people's employees, absolutely! Is that about it?

well, the insane will know where the sane are not permitted to carry guns, won’t they? Easy pickings..

Guess the Colorado movie shooter might have been deterred if he knew we wasnt allowed to carry guns in the movie theater! Schizophrenics are usually so law abiding

If this publicly elected, pustule were serious about additional firearms training, he would push to have it implemented in public schools where kids could learn safe gun handling and make a choice about ownership when they grow up. If he is serious about people making responsible carry decisions, he would push for classes on American Citizenship and Responsibility at the classroom level. The need for “target rich” safe zones for perpetrators would disappear.

Personal Responsibility is an anathema to community organizers.

Responding to a court decision that could scrap the state law requiring concealed-carry permit applicants to provide "good and substantial reason" for needing firearms...

The Second Amendment is a "good and substatial reason. If it's a right you don't need a reason.

There were two incidents in Texas: one before and one after the church prohibition was removed. In the first one, several people were killed. In the second one, only the perp got killed.

Libscum don’t care about such things as facts, though. After all, for them this isn’t about crime or public safety, it’s about power and control.

Sen. William C. Ferguson IV, a Democrat, introduced a bill Thursday that would require the training and prohibit permit holders from carrying guns in places like churches, bars and movie theaters.

The bill should be named "The Mass-Murderer Protection Act."

Libs are beyond retarded. Rock-like in intelligence, as in none at all. Actually, rocks are smarter because at least they exist in the real world. They should dub this the “maximize slaughter of innocents in churches, bars and movie theaters” bill.

Churches? When the Jihadists start bombing Christian Churches in the U.S like they presently do in Paki, I want to be able to carry an equalizer in my church!

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Outrageous.

So, it wasn’t bad enough to have a “waiting period” while they check out your bio.

Now, before we even ask, we have to show we had “training” 6 months prior?

And you’re forcing us to purchase training, now? Just like baby seats. Force us to put money in the pockets of those “evil companies” you hate so much - how ironic. Of course, I’m sure MD will get a cut of the expense....

Will this be required EVERY SINGLE time we want to purchase a new firearm? More redundant training?

(BTW, when I purchased a firearm way back just before that nonsense about needing registration, I had basic simple training included. That probably is not enough for this guy.)

Ok, this has to be one of the stupidest restrictions ever. So you get your training and then wait for 6 months to use what you learned. So in 6 months, you may have forgotten what you learned and have not practiced.
