Southern Exposure: Dixie goes all Republican

I know it as well as I care to. If anything it has only become worse. When I was there it wasn’t as full of gangs, etc. No way I would live there now any more than I would live in Chicago. There are places in TN that I wish weren’t, such as Memphis, but I would not live there either.

I admitted that I have never spent any time in North Florida and admitted that it might be a nice place to live but never will I again live even close to Miami or any other Northern stronghold. As far as the North goes, I have never been any further North than Ohio and don’t intend to.

Yes, I was extensively bullied about my accent. They made sure I knew it was the cause of my antagonism. My younger years in South Florida around so many Northern transplants made me determined never to live there again, even after 44 years. If it has changed, it has only been for the worse. I’ll stay in my slow talking, polite friendly South. Even though it has changed some over the years, most of us still have manners.

I read you second post after I had posted to you.

Tes down in the ousth part of the state is all yankees, but you can bet up in the north part of FL we are southern.

I’ve been to east TN two times every year for years and have found many yankess living there too, especially around Gatlinburg, Pidgeon forge, Sevierville etc.

As for accents, then there are many southern accents here, old FL accents and many GA accents as we have a lot of folks who move here from GA.
It is a slower way of life here, many polite people and kids which say sir and mam as my kids do.
