Brigadier General Becomes First Openly Gay Flag Officer in U.S. Military

(Arlington, VA) Army Brigadier General Tammy Smith has become the first openly gay flag officer to come out while currently serving in the U.S. military. She was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in a private ceremony which took place today at the Women’s Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. BG Smith received her stars from her wife, Tracey Hepner.

“For years, gay and lesbian generals and admirals were forced to hide their families in order to protect their careers. It is a great day for our military and for our nation when this courageous leader is finally able to recognize her wife for her support and sacrifice in the same way that all military families should be recognized for their service to our country,” said Sue Fulton, a 1980 West Point graduate and member of the OutServe Board of Directors.

Wow, that was fast. I expected gay generals in 20 years but these guys do not waste any time. I am slowly begining to understand that DADT repeal was simply the end result of a decades long process of weakening the greatest fighting force on earth.

Any ideas on reversing all this? Even Romney is OK with it, how can the clear majority of Americans not have a voice in this?

PS: Sorry about source, so far its them and some blogs.

Yeah, make our military a fag playground, wherein courage is redefined as being openly Loud, Proud and Queer.

For shame.

I’m actually surprised that it took so long after Obama’s announcement. Now suppose that General Smith was COL Jerry Sandusky’s CG and his victim was some 18 year old private. Would she court martial him? The world wants to know.

The US Military is being hollowed-out, gutted and polluted everyday.

Ping.

The next few years will bring more disgust and worse, IMO.

If not cut at the bud, this will eventually result in an entire homosexual subculture within the military. Moral issues aside, this is terrible for unit cohesion and general battle preparedness.

The “wife” looks more like a husband.

Or does she claim to be the “husband”?

“For years, gay and lesbian generals and admirals were forced to hide their families in order to protect their careers.”

How many could there be? They are less than 2% of the population and not the type that would be scene as drawn to military service.

The fact that she is a woman who graduated West Point among the first of the militant ‘we can do anything a man can do’ feminists makes sense though.

‘’I will not lie, cheat, or steal. Nor will I tolerate those who do.’’ — I think this is part of the Officer’s Honor Code. Guess this Admiral’s honor is quite flexible.

Here’s the real story on this over-the-hill, 50 year old weekend “rainbow warrior”. She made damn certain she was going to be promoted to BG before she told the military that she was a dyke. She got promoted then said she was a dyke, then started parading her “wife” around. I guess she considers herself the “husband” in this sicko relationship. That’s the story. Instead of being made into some kind of hero, she should be discharged for lying for all the years she served, when being homosexual was against the UCMJ. That should be the story. This woman should be court-martialed. She’s a liar and brought dishonor on the US military.

So many idiots on this site were decrying service members who didn’t stand up against this “serve openly” crap. Now you see why. Career suicide for no reason whatsoever. Hell, I heard all about the “lesbian mafia” in the senior officer ranks back when I was a cadet. Let me re-iterate: we don’t speak out because NOBODY CARES WHAT WE THINK.
