Ya’ll should have bought all of your guns and ammo right after election 2008, like I did.

It should surprise no one if the current regime take unilateral action on gun control, as they have done on just about everything else.

Can't do too much right now, though -- have to keep things 'under the radar' until after the election.

“My background check took 2 days for a bolt action 1937 rifle”

Geez! I’m from Indiana and have never had one take more than 5 or 10 minutes.

“When the New Media shows that they can protect them from the MSM enough so that they do not get unelected the next election. It is happening. It is why Cruz won the primary battle in Texas.”

I agree with you. There is something that has happened in the last 6 years to politics that is unique in our history (and the world’s).

Social media, and alternative media are beginning to have direct impacts on campaigns and elections. And I might add - finally.

The Medium has become reliable enough and “start-up” outlets have gained credibility.

I think that books will be written in 20 years about this period of transition that will have analysis that can only be seen in retrospect.

I also believe that after this election (and if we continue primary-electing men like Cruz) we will see a strong and powerful push to censor the internet and tax it. The Government will not permit this amount of democracy and freedom to exist. It’s only natural. And I feel that we should prepare for it.

atc23: Indeed. This election is a toss between a socialist and a Marxist/Leninist. I feel so much better now.

Yeah, life's full of bad and worse choices. I can either get up every day and go to a crap job or I can stay home until a satisfactory job comes along.

If only we didn't have a bunch of "conservative" liars collude to split the vote and let Willard win the nomination.

Each of which, I might add, who turned around and now support the guy they were supposedly opposing "to the end".

If only the Constitution mandated that sincere conservatives must run for the Republican nomination, right?

Meanwhile, I'll vote for a ham sandwich versus Obama. At least ham doesn't apologize to muslims.

People who say “Romney isn’t conservative enough so I am not voting for him” are like people who say “I can’t find the perfect job so I will stay unemployed”.

I wonder what background checking they did in Fast & Furious. If the DOJ’s track record is any indication, drug dealers will still get guns and innocent Americans will die.

....the Justice Department would improve background checks to enhance security.

I presume this means they'll unplug the computors 8 hours a day, slowing things down. Not sure what else they can do.

Nice try but both sides are ridiculously utopian-minded. The Left falsely believes guns can be entirely controlled, the Right falsely believes arming everyone is a certain deterrent to lunatics.

What part of "shall not be infringed" is so hard to understand?

do you think schizophrenic Jared Loughner would've somehow been deterred? There was someone armed on scene and he didn't take a shot Loughner wasn't in a theatre, he was outside a grocery store. As I understand it, the concealed carry holder arrived on the scene as Loughner was trying to reload, inhibited by a couple other individuals, and he simply held him on the ground, big guy I understand. Not unreasonable, in fact I'd commend him on his common sense, had he drawn his weapon and shot a prostrate Loughner, he'd be facing charges.

If you meant to suggest there was an armed individual in the theatre in Colorado, I hadn't read that. But it's worth pointing out that a concealed carry permit doesn't equate with a law enforcement responsibility. I don't disagree with your suggestion that some on the right exaggerate the case. Were I in that theatre, armed, would my priority be getting my family out safely (us on the right present that as the reason for concealed carry), or to engage the killer. Perhaps at risk to loved ones.

I don't know what I'd do.

I do know that no one in that theatre would be at greater risk were I or another law abiding citizen (they get the permits) armed. And yes, maybe things would have ended differently.

Licensed concealed carry holders bypass the background check. FYI

How? I've never been told that, or asked.

No second term for Romney. We must find some gutsy, constitutional candidate to primary against him in 2016. After seeing Issa, Walker, Rubio and Ryan in action, we may have some possibilities.

The president’s approach is that we should work with Congress when possible and administratively when allowed,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters

"Allowed" by what, Mr. Carney?

They’re coming to take them away, Ha-Ha! They’re coming to take them away!

When the Reich comes for your guns, turn them over. But give them all your ammo first!

Fine...I want full background checks available to the public for all public officials, both elected and appointed. These government officials have the potential to do far more damage than a handful drunken, racist, gun-toting bubbas.

On second thought...just respect the 2nd Amendment and stop infringing on the rights of law-abiding Americans.

At least in Texas. You’re background has already been investigated when you get a CHL.
