WH: DOJ will work on background checks for guns until Congress passes gun laws

President Obama’s spokesman blamed Congress for the lack of stronger gun control legislation and promised that the Justice Department would improve background checks to enhance security.

The president’s approach is that we should work with Congress when possible and administratively when allowed,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters when asked about strengthening gun control laws — laws that must respect Second Amendment rights, he said.

In the meantime, Carney said, the Justice Department will “enhance security by making it harder for those who should not have these weapons to obtain them” through improved background checks.

In other words, all the DOJ will do is arbitrarily reject a greater percentage of background checks

So THIS is what Obama meant by “behind the scenes.”

They manipulate the monthly employment numbers to make themselves look good. How much you wanna bet they start manipulating the NICS numbers to make it seem there are fewer people buying guns? Almost as a way to social engineer the subject. Wow.

And no one will say anything. People will start being turned away from shops as they try to legally buy firearms. No answers will be given as to why. They’ll likely give up. That, in turn, will lower earnings for manufacturers and thus increase prices of firearms and then ammo.

It’s coming folks. This is how they want to do it. Hope you’ve got all the guns you want and the ammo to shoot them. It’s about to become a lot more difficult.

Time to start calling our politicians and telling them we want all gun control laws repealed immediately. Then we can compromise with the other side, only 20% of gun laws repealed every year might be OK...

Interesting, put gun control checks in the hands of be biggest violators in american history. Yeah, no corruption there...

And I am sure the liars and theives will destroy all the records of the requests, seeing that gun registration records are illegal to keep. The Felons in charge would not ever break that law.

Cool.

We’ll know more about average, law abiding citizens than we will who’s coming over our southern border. :)

President Obama’s spokesman blamed Congress for the lack of stronger gun control legislation

Bill Clinton tried to force regulation, too:
"I've come to believe he needs a certain level of violence in this country," Wayne LaPierre, the NRA's executive vice president, said on ABC-TV's This Week. "He's willing to accept a certain level of killing to further his political agenda, and the vice president, too."

If the left REALLY wanted to stop the gun violence, they'd allow people to defend themselves. ALL the mass killings occurred where the victims were sitting ducks. Had those those killers known their victims could defend themselves, these killings would have never happened.

My last purchase only took about 10 minutes for the background check. Texas.

With a CCP in CT the background check is a simple double-check with CT State Police (no warrants) and you get to walk out the same day with whatever’s for sale, and you want to pay for.

Yes, of course, makes sense: Do background checks for guns but do NOTHING to check the backgrounds of illegal immigrants or to even require an ID card to vote. Opps, forgot, I have to have an ID to buy a frakin gun legally...... /s =.=

I think I’m losing it. Definitely missed the takeover yet Obama is making all these decisions/laws. And Congress doesn’t even question the imposed gun control/immigrant pardons/voting laws that are coming out of the WH?

Whoa... so a bunch of anti-gun Chicago bastards are going to go around Congress and do what they feel is best for me?

Oh, hell no, they are not.

At what point will Congress ask for their nuts back and rein in our Executive branch of government?

Had those those killers known their victims could defend themselves, these killings would have never happened.

That's your assumption. I say they'd have happened anyway or do you think schizophrenic Jared Loughner would've somehow been deterred? There was someone armed on scene and he didn't take a shot. No rational person is going to open fire in a darkened theater full of smoke and a panicked crowd in hopes of hitting an armoured gunman.

Nice try but both sides are ridiculously utopian-minded. The Left falsely believes guns can be entirely controlled, the Right falsely believes arming everyone is a certain deterrent to lunatics.

wrench: Mass still has his assualt weapons ban in effect. Romney is strongly pro gun control.

Massachusetts is strongly pro gun control.

And if Newt or Bachmann or Cain had won the nomination, Massachussetts would still be strongly pro gun control.

What makes you think willard will be any better?

Because Obama and Holder are the fricking anti-2A antiChrist you fool!

Willard is a Massachussetts Mormon.

Obama is a Muslim Fascist.

Different! Do they put a cork on your fork for your own safety?
