According to a new study, President Obama is likely related to John Punch, the first enslaved African in the American colonies — by way of his white mother.
“Two of the most historically significant African Americans in the history of our country are amazingly directly related,” said Ancestry.com genealogist Joseph Shumway in a release.

Blacks started slavery in the New World.
The first slave in the New World was John Casor, a black man, enslaved by another black man, Anthony Johnson.
No particular reason to believe Punch is the ancestor than any other black man. But I guess it makes a better story.
Most people don't realize the color line in colonial days, especially the early colonial days, wasn't nearly as hard and fast as in later days. In fact, North Carolina was one of the states in which black free men were allowed to vote when the Constitution was created.
His fathers Luo Tribe in Kenya were slave traders as well.

If true, which I doubt, this would not be relevant to anything but Sacha Obama’s genealogy project for school. Jeb Bush really is related to two recent US Presidents, including the last legitimate President of the United States, but that doesn’t make me want to vote for Jeb.
If DNA could be collected, it would likely show that Obama is related to Satan.
