When you try to do too many things, you do none of them well.

Think of a spork.

They will still be perfect for delivering U.S. Peace Delegations, surrender documents, and reparations to countries like Iran, Pakistan, and North Korea. They will certainly not be viewed as a threat and will therefore not be attacked.

You're not thinking like a modern guy.

This ship is a perfect entry level command for today's crazed lesbo ship captains who wouldn't know a bowline from a brassiere, having use for neither.

But, with only 13 ' draft, it's perfect for keelhauling those who actually have a prayer of getting the ship to work without killing everyone.

“what changes must be made to man and fight the ships without wearing out their small crews.”

Nobody should have a say in planning or designing ships who hasn’t been a watchstander for long enough to understand what is required. Anybody here spent months in condition III, with conditions II and I thrown in?

These idiots seem to think you only need enough crewmen to cover one eight-hour shift per day.

It seems to me that people who should never be allowed to be in charge of anything are in charge of *everything,* and I don’t just mean the rogues’ gallery of racist America-haters that the Kenyan Commie has appointed, or just the career bureaucrats who tighten the noose of tyranny about our necks a bit more every day, or even just the CEO of GE and other functionally insane corporations. It seems to hold right down to the principals of elementary schools and managers of restaurants.

How did we let those dysfunctional golems get so much power?

“looks as if it would pound you to death in the Atlantic anyway”

If the word “littoral” is still used the way it used to be, these targets-of-opportunity are meant to be used close to coastlines.

They still have to get to an overseas coast in the first place.

“They still have to get to an overseas coast in the first place.”

Yes, true, and that could be uncomfortable if there wasn’t enough time to wait for “fair winds and following seas.”

Still, it’s a transit, not a station.

Not that I think these things are any substitute for a battleship—or even an FF.
