AURORA, Colo. (AP) Aurora shooting suspect James Holmes applied to join a Colorado gun range but never became a member after the owner became concerned over his bizarre message and behavior.

“An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life”.
I’d love to hear the answering machine message.
Did the gun club owner ever think that after hearing the “bizarre guttural, freakish at best” message and, given the context of the situation, he might contact the authorities? It sounds as if he saw the red flag, but really didn’t give it much thought.
I thought I saw him quoted as saying they didn’t “deny” him membership (yet). And that he wanted to personally interview Holmes before given access to the range. Hence why he wouldn’t report it until then.
He did something that the theater owners and all those others across the US who put up a $5 sign and do nothing else.
Exactly. Wish more would have done something.
I read the same as you imply. I would take accounts hereafter from the source as being self-serving, even if I agree with their right to pursue a legal business under the law.
He tried calling Holmes a couple of times to come in for an interview/orientation but all he got was his VM with the bizarre message. Then he told his staff if he shows up, dont let him join.
Wish more would have done something.
But what could the gun range owner have done? Its not illegal to have a weird or bizarre voice mail message.
That's the quote I saw, but I thought the part after that said "... until I talk to him personally". Maybe I'm mistaken.

I said that I "wish MORE [people] would have done something". The gun range guy did his job. Did the parents? Did his friends? Did aquaintences? That's what I meant by that.
I understand and agree.
The MSM ignored that "story"
Sometimes people slip through the cracks and are then able to cause great harm. All you can do at that point is prepare for them and prepare yourself for them.
