Had that kid known the theater crowd would be armed to the teeth he would NEVER have tried what he did. His was an expression of brutal power over life and death, the power to cause pain, fear, and suffering, to experience a level of dominance to which he felt entitled but knew he was so screwed up he could never attain it. He gains the thrill of final conquest, fawning media attention, and a secure future to boot.
