In his interview with Iranians Residing Abroad, Mr. Mohammadi apparently urged Iranian-Canadians to “occupy high-level key positions” and “resist being melted into the dominant Canadian culture.”
The embassy is in and of itself a menace to public safety and our national interests; it should have been closed down yesterday

Mr. Mohammadi, who estimated the Iranian-Canadian population at 500,000, said recent Iranian immigrants have “decisively preserved strong attachments and bonds to their homeland,” while the “younger second generation” is already “working in influential government positions.”

Peter MacKay( Canada Defense Minister) married Nazanin Afshin-Jam in a private ceremony reported to have taken place in Mexico.

Afshin-Jam is Iranian-born and a former Miss World Canada who has since become a high-profile human rights activist. The trilingual pilot was once named one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world.

Afshin-Jam, who holds international relations and political science degrees from the University of British Columbia, also serves on the board of directors of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation. She previously served as a global youth educator with the Red Cross.

TORONTO - The Iranian-born wife of Defence Minister Peter MacKay says she is shocked at TD Canada Trust’s decision to close a number of accounts belonging to Iranian Canadians without offering them a proper explanation.

TD (TSX:TD) began notifying Iranian-Canadian clients in May that it would no longer provide them with banking services — in some cases referring to Ottawa’s economic sanctions against the Tehran regime.

Afshin-Jam says that Iranian-Canadian friends of her father in Vancouver had their TD accounts closed despite having lived in Canada for many years with no ties to the Iranian government.

“I definitely think they are entitled to an answer and evidence, that’s a basic premise of law — the right to face your accuser — and I think there’s nothing better than honesty and transparency in this kind of situation,” she says.

In a statement released Thursday, TD said it is required to comply with Canadian bank laws and regulations, “including economic sanctions, which prohibit us from providing financial services to or for the benefit of certain countries, or any person in those countries.”
