I never thought I would live to see this. I almost wish I hadn’t.

The point lost in this debate is that many military recruits come from “Jesusland,” portions of the western and southern United States that still embrace traditional values. If the economy ever improves, you’ll find more young men and women from these areas foregoing military service, because the armed forces are too busy trying to shove the gay agenda down their throats. At that point, you won’t have nearly as many patriotic volunteers to defend what’s left of this country.

Fact is, many of the young people in places like SF and NYC don’t want to serve. A few years ago, the Heritage Foundation did a great analysis of military recruiting, in rebuttal to Charlie Rangel’s claim that most of the troops dying in Iraq and Afghanistan were poor and members of minority groups. Dr. Tim Kaine of Heritage found that most of the combat casualties came from the south, Midwest and West, and their family incomes were above the national average. Meanwhile, in the year of recruiting data analyzed by Heritage, no a single young person from Rangel’s Harlem district joined the U.S. military.

One more thing: did I mention that the same young people who form the backbone of today’s military—the same ones from areas that retain traditional values—are overly-represented in armed forces units/positions that are difficult to fill, such as pilot and special forces?

Soon anyone who joins the military will be a suspected homosexual.

THEN it’s all over.

My son has some similar aspects to this young man. I have beeen talking with him for the past couple of years. We have seen the direction of the country, the horrific ROE that the military labors under, the rampant polictical correctness, the leftist leadership and the coming totalitarian rule and we both agree that the military is not in his future.

My son would have been a valuable asset to the military, but it will not offer him a future that he could stand by.

So is Romney going to repeal this or what? Does the GOP have a ten year plan on how they will fight this?

Nope, didn’t think so. Conservatives are a movement without a party.

CORRECTION:

The point lost in this debate is that many military recruits USED TO come from “Jesusland,” portions of the western and southern United States that still embrace traditional values.

who had just retired from the military and was now flying Boeing airliners to Japan.

Without a commercial ticket and thousands of hours of heavy multi-engine time, your anecdote, as described, doesn't pass the smell test.

I think you are right. It would take another civil war at this point and I don’t think the new generations have the stomach or guts.

Funny, I didn’t really expect to be called out on anything there, and it was a real surprise, and I had to laugh after I pressed the post button...”He is.”

It just struck me as funny, that I would just have that knee jerk reaction!

I have no reason to doubt the guy. Now, I didn’t go to the airport and follow him around, but there was nothing in-authentic about it to me. In casual conversation, I asked him what he was currently doing, and he simply replied and made a comment about his schedule.

Not a BS artist type of response to me.

He did say he was retiring from the ANG..maybe that would explain it. He wasn’t active duty at the time.

I am retired Army (ret 1986) and while you suspected that some guys were gay, if they kept their mouths shut, did their duty, they were left alone. No so called witch hunts, or whatever, but if you found two members of the same sex doing what they do in a car or barracks room, then it was considered Conduct Unbecoming the same if you found two members of opposite sex breaking rules for fraternization. I guess times have changed, and not for the good. I am surprised that they are allowed to wear the uniform in a gay parade. I realy don’t think I could be a senior NCO in todays Army and it will in time have a negative affect on the military. Anyone who is career status knew or suspected someone of being a bit light in the loafers. But offical acceptance of this lifestyle is just wrong.
