Canada, not the United States, is now the most prosperous nation on earth, with average household net worth surpassing ours by $43,000, or about 13 percent. •The number of people on food stamps has grown 50 percent in less than four years.

We have more people on food stamps than the entire population of Canada and then some.

Tom Tancredo ran for President in 2008 . The media purposefully ignored him.

Far too gloomy on Tancredo’s part. By calling July 4^th “no longer worth celebrating”, he’s surrendering to the left instead of inspiring a way out of their morass. It is now “eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die” and saying that is all that conservatives now represent.

Then again, Tancredo voted against deterring foreign arms transfers to China (cancels out his vote against permanent normalization of trade relations with them), and voted against keeping the travel ban to Cuba, so he must secretly like communism.

Yes, sad but true. I have to wonder if some of our great American Soldiers still think it’s worth risking their lives for this mess. Big city cops must be harboring some of the same thoughts.

But looking around me on July 4th in 2012, thinking about what America has become, I got the sickening feeling that Independence Day has changed because our country has changed.

We are America in name only. We have become a nation of non-Americans. Populated with people that have no historic, emotional, language, ancestral or cultural ties to 4th of July, just a place to get government cheese!!!

The 4’th of July = Big Government Day, and the celebratory extravagance is inversely proportional to our actual freedoms.

I guess it never occurred to Rep Tancredo to stop looking at the future of all the American states as being the same and as part of the same political construct. I see a future where some, most, or all of our grandkids celebrate 2 independence days. To sit around and mope about the sorry state of parts of our culture is counterproductive and maudlin. I guess if you live in some socialist utopia like new jersey there isn’t much to be happy about. But it also begs the question of why oh why are you still there?

We already have the shining city on the hill within our grasp. And we need some leaders who get that rather than stand around mourning.

We had grown fat and lazy in the “old America”. The tough times ahead are going to bring out the best of us - although at the cost of much pain. I say “bring it on” ... I miss the days when Americans had “The Right Stuff”, and that was in very short supply long before Obama.
