Concealed carry applicants in Wisconsin would need instruction in the use of deadly force and how to avoid violent situations under new rules the state Justice Department has proposed.
DOJ has been operating under temporary rules governing how the agency issues permits since the concealed carry law went into effect. Those rules require training but don't lay out any specifics.
The new rules not only require instruction on deadly force and de-escalation but mandate training on firearm safety rules and how to safely use, handle, transport and store firearms and ammunition. Training class sizes would be restricted to 50 students.

...away from constitutional carry, not toward it. Color me surprised. < /sarc> God I hate politicians!
What’s the only way to avoid violent confrontations? Never leave home.
Politicians are some of the most stupid people in the world.
How will they mandate all the kids in the ‘hood take this class? More useless crap regulation for the over regulated, law-abiding citizen. Or, putting the heavy government boot on the necks of the taxpayer.
Since they couldn’t prevent people from being armed, they try to make it as difficult, expensive, and time consuming as possible.
There is a simple question these birds need to be asked.
In Arizona, there are no such rules, and everything is fine. So why does the DOJ in Wisconsin think its citizens are so *inferior* to Arizonans?
If I was a Wisconsinite, I would rightfully be insulted.
Right, tell that to the countless pet dogs and innocent people killed by cops getting addresses wrong or gunning down a person believing criminals are invading their home.
Wisconsin concealed carry ping
FReep mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Note to Wisconsin voters: You need to replace your Attorney General with someone committed to following the law and to cleaning house in that department!
Hold back on the criticism as I think the Republican Assembly and Senate leadership have not digested the rules at this time. The rules must have just hit the letterboxes as I have not seen any Wisconsin papers or blogs react as well.
The Republican are busy with reelection season and both houses are essentially out of session. I assume the rules have to be through the legislature committees before going in force. If not, Walker would put a hold on them going into effect. Expensive training a long training time is not in favor with most Republican pols and not with we who favor CCW.
Requirements:
1. Be of age. In the state of Vermont, that age is 16 or older. You must be at least 16 years of age to legally purchase a gun and keep it loaded on your person in public.
2. Obtain permission from a parent or guardian to carry a gun if youre under the age of 16. Failure to do so may result in being deemed a delinquent child by the state.
3. Have a clean record if purchasing a firearm. Things like felony convictions and dishonorable military discharge will show up during the federal instant check, and prohibit purchase
I guess this means VT must be like the Wild West on people who carry are always shooting themselves and others by accident.;)
Yes. I just talked to my Assemblyman and he was not yet read into it. He was for constitutional carry.
I agree with you 100%. Even the Wisconsin Republican Party Preamble to their Resolutions has become less constitutional carry friendly. The following language was removed.
>>>- We further oppose all efforts to require registration of firearms in the possession of law abiding citizens, as well as efforts to bankrupt manufacturers through frivolous, unethical lawsuits.
Instead, we call for the proper enforcement of the many existing laws against those who commit crimes. For safetys sake, we encourage voluntary training in the use of firearms. -<<<
