Polls show Cruz has momentum (Cruz surging...pulled ahead of Dewhurst!)
El Paso, Inc. ^ | 7/15/12 | Joe Holley

"For the first time in their long campaign slog, independent polls are showing the so-called movement candidate, tea party favorite Ted Cruz, leading the GOP establishment favorite, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

They are trying to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison in the U.S. Senate and face off once again in the July 31 runoff election.

“If less than a million people vote and Cruz wins, he’s likely to have coattails,” said Mustafa Tameez, a Houston political consultant. “He’ll pull in a lot of the movement candidates.”

Cruz has insisted all along that his supporters have the enthusiasm, and a new survey suggests that he may be right. The survey, by Wenzel Strategies, shows Cruz leading Dewhurst 47 percent to 38 percent with two weeks to go. Dewhurst won the first round of voting by 10 points but did not get the 50 percent required to avoid a runoff..."

And it seems only a matter of time until the whole state is another California, unless Republicans can demonstrate to Latinos that conservative politics is in the best interests of Latinos and their children.

100% absolutely TRUE. Head-in-the-sand "conservatives" refuse to acknowledge demographics really ARE destiny in this country.

It changes the culture, it changes the politics and that changes the government.

And these changes become fixed. Look at the decayed cities. No matter how awful things have been or for how long, they keep electing Democrats and won't hear of an alternative if that alternative carries the Republican brand.

“And it seems only a matter of time until the whole state is another California, unless....”

When the east coast liberals invaded conservative California in the 50s and 60’s they brought their pet dog republicans with them......just a look at one of those guys and they roll over on their backs waiting for a belly rub.....right now, as California is gerrymandered, only lap dog republicans have a chance of being elected with a few exceptions in the California interior and San Deigo......

As long as Texas Republicans stay strong/Conservative turning into California is not in Texas’ future.....

Sadly I am stuck with Ralph Hall, a career politician

You whine about being 'stuck' with an honest conservative representing you in Congress? Geeez....

I know he's old, and he's been in office a long, long time, but as far as I know, Ralph Hall has voted conservative every step of the way since he's been there.

He was my rep before we moved out of Collin County.

Kay is a bit liberal for my tastes, but she has done a few good deeds in over the years...

You'll have to refresh my memory on Kay's 'good deeds'. All I can remember is her single handedly killing the funding for the border fence.

You’re likely talking to Austin FReepers.

If you you like Kay Bailey Hutchinson, you’ll like Dewhurst. Cruz is no KBH, but more the DeMint style and I believe DeMint is backing Cruz! Cruz speaks our language. Dewhurst will put you to sleep compromising.

Yes, I know, which is why I searched my heart and gave my vote to an up and coming young conservative, the last time Ralph Hall ran. I still respect his service, and very much appreciate it.

Note the snotty use of the term "so-called movement candidate." Well, the guy IS from the NYT "news" service.

Don't you mean the "so-called news" service?

;^)

Cruz is probably winning, this looks more like the lying piles of crap better known as pollsters are adjusting their numbers as they always do when an election gets closer.

I think Cruz “may” end up winning by ten points. Who’s gonna vote in late July?

Only those that are truly committed.

Big advantage Cruz.

Yes, Dewhurst is throwing a lot of mud these final two weeks...but I think after his “Cruz is for amnesty” lies were exposed, no truly undecided voters are going to listen to him.

I sort of liked Dewhurst previously. But he has really, really sunk low in this campaign. I hope and think that Cruz is going to clean his clock!!!
