Obamacare: $1 monthly ‘abortion surcharge’ to be included in healthcare exchange plans
America's Watchtower ^ | March 13, 2012

Posted on 06/29/2012 10:38:39 AM PDT by Sopater

The biggest issue that many people had in the debate leading up to the passage of the Obamacare legislation was the fact that most Representatives and Senators who would be voting on the bill didn’t bother to read the legislation they would be voting on. Congressman John Conyer actually asked what good it would do to read the bill because the Congress still wouldn’t know what was in it unless they each hired two lawyers, and Nancy Pelosi famously quipped “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it.”

But what went underreported in my opinion was the fact that even if all the Congressmen had read the bill, and had enough lawyers to explain to them what was in the bill, they still wouldn’t know what was going to be in the final bill because the legislation tasked Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius with creating certain Obamacare guidelines AFTER the legislation was signed into law.

This unelected official was given an extraordinary amount of power and it seems as if there is little we can do about it now. We saw the first results of this little known provision a couple of weeks ago with the contraception mandate, and today we are learning about another new guideline which Kathleen Sebelius is preparing to hand down; people who enroll in a healthcare exchange plan will be required to pay a $1 ‘abortion surcharge’ every month on their plans.

We were promised by Barack Obama that no federal money would be used to fund abortions in the Obamacare legislation–he even went so far as to sign and Executive Order banning the federal funding of abortion–and while $1 a month may not be allot of money it is still a broken promise and a betrayal of all those who signed onto the bill after his assurance that no federal money would be used for this purpose.

We all remember Joe Wilson yelling out “you lie” during Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address when Barack Obama promised not to fund abortion, and we all remember the outrage from the left at Joe Wilson for his breach of protocol and disrespect towards the president, but what we should have been asking is; “is he right, and is Barack Obama lying?” The answer to that question is quite obvious now.

Nice bumper sticker “Have you paid your dollar for free abortions today?”

The Catholic Church should be on this.

I wonder if this could end up being a good thing. As I read this, this is an ‘opt out’ situation. People who’re pro-life could opt out, not pay the charge and not fund abortions with their tax dollars.

I’d sure appreciate a way to quit funding murder.

Your article sourced this on: http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/13/1-abortion-premium-in-obamacare/

That’s where I got my take on it. But I may be seeing this wrong.

Take it a step further: those that supported Obama, and especially those that still do, are morally reprehensible. There’s no excuse to support a POTUS that actively supports abortion, refuses to enforce DOMA, etc. There’s no other applicable label than ‘morally reprehensible’ for an Obama supporter that finds it acceptable for Barry to further tax families, erode freedoms, weaken our security, etc.

They are.

There are over two dozen Catholic diocese and Catholic organizations that have filed law suits against the infringment upon religious liberties.

Correct. Additionally, if my memory serves me correctly, there’s something about how that fee’s appearance is not supposed to be ackowledged as such by the provider, under some penalty. A true reason that no serious Catholic can either vote for any dem or repub who supports this monstrous garbage, and we cannot continue having this sort of insurance past the advent of this in 2014, given that support of abortion is a mortal sin.

A pinch of incense on the altar of Moloch is not a lot of incense.

It is - however - enough to damn your soul alive.

This is not going to go over well. Ask women if they believe government should cover contraception, they say yes. If you ask them if they would accept a tax increase to pay for it, the answer is no.

Wait until they find out they're paying $4 a month for other peoples abortions (mostly of minority infants).

Well, those bastards can throw my ass in jail and throw away the key before I’ll ever pay a dime toward any of their satanic health exchanges.

Sept 17th is Constitution Day.

Wonder if anyone is planning some event in DC for the day.

The democrats are forcing people to pay the cost of keeping the minority populations in check. This law will kill a lot of African Americans and Hispanics. They're killing them off by the millions already.

What about the Amish? Are they going to be forced to be part of this evil Oboma world? What about the Mennonites? Will they, too, be forced to support sin?

Oboma MUST include these groups. They are American citizens. They, like the Catholic Church, will be forced to support anti-Christ/anti-Biblical policies.

If I recall the Amish are one of the 1,200 groups that have been given waivers.

Not sure, but I think Muslim groups have gotten waivers too
