The one silver lining in this, is that the mandate is now officially a TAX. The Dems can’t run from it anymore. If the GOP is smart, they can hang the “LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN HUMAN HISTORY” on B.Hussein and the Dems.

How is that constitutional?

What a tragedy!

It makes the upcoming election the most important in our lifetime

But, even if it’s a landslide for the Repubs and we gain control of the presidency and both houses, we still can’t be sure that those linguini-spined Repubs would actually repeal it.

How sad for the future our country!

I have to agree. I completely misjudged Roberts.

Now I’m left shaking my head, blaming Bush for ever appointing him to begin with. He can never redeem himself from this, and might have just doomed our nation to another 4 years of Obama’s tyranny.

I’m no Kathleen Parker fan but she was right that critics were trying to get under Roberts’ skin and I quote,
“Publicly chastising the court — and now taunting Roberts specifically — seems to have two purposes. One is to get under Roberts’s skin in the hopes that he’ll rule the “correct,” if not necessarily “legally correct,” way. Two is to lay the groundwork for declaring the court illegitimate if all or part of Obamacare is overturned.
Either way, it’s politics at its filthiest and is beneath the dignity of the court — and of the White House. Unfortunately for Roberts, it’s up to the chief justice to hold the bar high.”

Unfortunately, it looks like they succeeded.

“If the GOP is smart, they can hang the “LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN HUMAN HISTORY” on B.Hussein and the Dems.”

Sorry, but that is almost as unlikely to happen as the SCOTUS actually upholding the CONSTITUTION. Ovomit has been given new life and will trumpet this to the nth degree as proof that he was “right” and all his mindless minions who suck the life out of those of us who actually work and pay taxes will keep their sorry asses in office just to make sure the teets are available for them to keep sucking on.

To think the GOP will do anything but roll over is wishful thinking. Romney and the rest will feign outrage, promise to “overturn” it IF they win in November and that will be it. IF they are lucky enough to win the WH and put both the Senate and House in the GOP control, they won’t do squat. The dems will filibuster, scream bloody murder and use their MSM lapdogs to paint the GOP as evil tyrants and the GOP will roll over.

Plain and simple. And you can bet that once this is in place, NO ONE will have the balls to ever try and touch it. Just like Social Security, it will be the “third rail” of every political debate that NO ONE will go anywhere near.

Well now that it is a tax it can be “adjusted” for the needy by increasing the earned income tax credit. Just became another avenue for another massive redistribution of wealth.

They’ve just thrown the juggler (fedgov/economy) an 18 lb bowling ball.

Take heart in the fact that this cannot be maintained or sustained and the whole thing will come crashing down, and those hit the hardest will be those who have been the most dependent.

Look out for you and yours, because this just accelerated the inevitable.

This is a golden opportunity for the GOP. Obamacare mandates are now officially a "tax". Saddle the Dems with approving the HUGEST TAX INCREASE IN WORLD HISTORY!!! I know Boehner and Romney are squishy, so (CAPLOCK STUCK) ELECT TEAPARTY CONSERVATIVES WHO'LL HOLD THEIR FEET TO THE FIRE.

I PREDICT THAT THIS IS A PYRRHIC VICTORY FOR OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS. THEY JUST ENSURED A MASSIVE GOP MAJORITY IN THE HOUSE AND CLOSE TO A FILIBUSTER-PROOF MAJORITY IN THE SENATE.

Maybe, but personally, I think the sleeping giant has again been awakened, completely re-energized, with more power than ever before.

You are going to see conservative activism over the next four months that makes the Tea Party of 2010 look like, well, just a tea party.

Meanwhile, the liberals will go back into their cocoon, convinced that all is well again....

It’s very perplexing. During the arguments before Roberts didn’t seem to indicate that he was favorable towards upholding the ACA. IIRC he was tough in his questioning of Verrilli.

“Roberts, too, had given the Obama administration faint hope. He wondered if the government could require everyone to buy cellphones, since that would facilitate the government’s system for providing fire and ambulance services in emergencies. He worried that if the court said requiring health-insurance purchases were constitutional because the health-care market was such a unique one — Verrilli repeatedly made that case, because no one can predict what services they will need and when — the government would simply come up with reasons that a different industry fit the bill.”
