FReepers, let's give Mr. Simmonds some well-deserved praise -- and pray for him to find a great job that will reward his talents and courage and support his family.

If I owned a business in New York, I’d hire the guy on the spot.

I don’t think he will be without a job for long.

He has his priorities straight. I think I could trust him.

Anybody in that situation should have done what I did... The fact that you believe this, Mr. Simmons, sets you apart from unfortunately too many in our society today. I see you get that, since you said "should" and not "would".

We could use a few more like him.

Another great American man. The fact that there are plenty of men around who would do what he did doesn’t make it any less wonderful. It just means we have a deep bench of heroes in our country.

Wow.
Somehow, I don’t think he’s going to have any problem being offered a job.

Never judge a book by its cover.
That being said, lose the Street thug look, Delroy.
You would look terrific in a three piece business suit.

The man didn’t think, just reacted while others were “stunned”. He did what a man should do.

Very cool story.
This courageous and selfless man is definitely not "Obama's son".

lose the Street thug look, Delroy. You would look terrific in a three piece business suit. While he would indeed look good in a suit, his polo shirt is a "thug look"? I see his kind eyes and modest, private expression. The article says "he was a laid off as a vocational trainer for the mentally disabled." I don't think business suits are appropriate or required for such work.
Not trying to single you out, however. But one of the reasons I posted this article is due to the abundance of "Holder's people" comments on FR. This guy has risen above appearances and may have had some pretty good parenting himself.

Mr. Simmonds demonstrated a level of courage and character that is sorely lacking in our society today.
May God Bless you and yours Mr. Simmonds.
