Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., is confirming that she will not attend the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., in September.
A statement from her office says it's standard practice for her when she's running for election. But one Republican official is calling it "a pathetic attempt to distance herself from Barack Obama."
In an emailed statement attributed to an unnamed aide, McCaskill's office said she is declining to attend because she's is running for office herself.

Reeks of racism to me.
These racists need to be held accountable for this sort of behaviour.
You have it almost right, but to do it “whoopie-style”, it goes somethin’ like this:
“I didn’t see Claire skippin’ no convention when we had a white president!”
But she is the only one that knows where the “passed” Senate budget is.
Video: Claire McCaskill under the impression that the Senate passed a budget last year

I think more than enough Missouri voters will remember how Claire was shaking the Obama pom poms all during 2008 and the first two years of his occupation of the WH.
Not too obvious, is she? I can’t wait to see her sent packing.
Low volume ping list
FReepmail me to be on, or off, this list.
Poor Clair de Loon.
Now she doesn't want to be associated with Pres_ _ent Obama (I'll give him an ID when he gives the American public a real one).
I wish I had more faith in the collective long term memory of the American people. As great as they are, they have a tendency to only remember what happened yesterday. What happened a week ago is relegated to ancient history which the RATS are very good at manipulating. Somehow people have to be reminded what really happened four years ago. You can be sure the lamestreamers will be siding with the manipulators.
We’re not talking about America, we’re talking about Missouri, the cradle and protector of common sense. :-)
Wave bye bye to the “Clair Bear” !!!!
It is except for Jackson county and St. Louis
And the regrets list grows and grows:
Up to date list of Rats who claim their schedules are too busy to allow them to attend the convention:
Heidi Heitcamp
Claire Mccaskill
Nick Rahall
Joe Manchin
Earl Ray Tomblin
Mark Critz
Jim Matheson
Jon Tester
Add to the list above:
Richard Carmona (running for Senate from AZ)
Thank you for the ping.
We can add to that list a list of those who will not be campaigning for Obama this fall.
Hillary
Slick
Barbra Streisand
Oprah
Colin Powell will withhold his endorsement.
The Dem nomination is by no means locked for Obama, espacilly if it is Obama - Biden.
It's not locked. Romney's grip of the GOP nod is locked. The rat nod is welded around Obama's waist, embedded in his skin. He IS the democratic party. The ship sailed on him being challenged for the rat nod a long time ago. Dumping Biden remains possible up till the time of the convention but it doesn't look like Obama is smart enough to do that.
On another note, that's a lot of rats in GOP states skipping the party. Unprecedented? Or no? I wonder many hosting NC rats will skip it. Will Mike McIntyre dare show up?
Add a couple more not attending Rat convention:
Kathy Hochul and Bill Owens, both from NY
And Jefferson City, and Columbia, and several other places... but I understand your point. If Missouri could hand St. Louis and its suburbs over to Illinois, and if Kansas City could somehow disappear along with it, most of the rest of the state would have the dynamics of the rural Upper South.
