'In the Line of Fire star helps re-open 45-year-old case and discovers shocking police cover-up'
'Film and TV star Dylan McDermott was just five years old when his mother Diane was shot through the head.
He didnt see it happen, because hed already been kicked out of the house by his mums drug abusing gangster boyfriend.
McDermott is now a successful actor after winning a Golden Globe for TV show The Practice, appearing in Clint Eastwood thriller In The Line Of Fire, Miracle On 34th Street and the upcoming The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.
But he must still have been haunted by the moment, while standing outside his house, that he heard shouting, then a gunshot, before his mother was wheeled out on stretcher with a bandage around her head.
The case was deemed an accidental shooting by police back in 1967, but 45 years on McDermott helped re-open the cold case, and discovered she was violently murdered by her boyfriend.'

They forgot his best Movie. Hamburger Hill. He was great in the film. And glad he finally solved this murder.
I don't know why anyone would think there was any kind of cover up......
They insisted Dylans celebrity status had no bearing on the decision.
Big deal if it helped. They solved the case and now he can be at peace for the next 30-50 years of life.
Stepmom Eve "Vagina Monologues" Ensler?
Or always jealous Dermot Mulroney?
It must have been some of the same investigators who investigated all the "Arkancides" during the Toon administration....
So sexy. One of my favorites.
I don’t believe that’s him
Good on him. He did right by his Mom.
Having issues of a different nature that go way way way way back with my mother, I’m glad McDermott was able to lay this to rest. I applaud him for taking the action that made it possible.
Gotta respect that.
As we get older, some old wounds begin to fester a bit. Some of them can be addressed, and some of them can’t.
That dang google pictures messed me up again.
I recognize the one you posted, I rarely know these people by name. John Wayne, Clark Gable, and Betty, those names i remember.
Thanks for the hand, waiting for the shoe to drop Thursday, long 36 hours or so. :)
You never know what tragedies people have in their past. The “boyfriend” sounds like a real gangster, I wonder how many other people he harmed after the police failed to lock him up for this crime.
Although ending up dead in a car trunk sounds like a well deserved finish, he’d probably gotten off a lot easier in a jail cell.
Good on Mr. McDermott for working to bring a measure of justice for his mother’s memory. And for having a successful life despite such a harrowing start.
I wonder if this had anything to do with the latest show he was in, American Horror Story? That was all about how the past haunts people.
