He's been missing for a month but just now reports are beginning to surface of another victim to the violence in our sister city.
This time it's a Texas photojournalist gone missing in Nuevo Laredo.
It's our top story.
The news is all over south Texas newspapers, websites and social networks.
With this picture of 30 year old Zane Plemmons.
He is said to be a Texas based freelance photographer whose whereabouts have unknown for a month.
According to unconfirmed reports he was staying at a hotel in Nuevo Laredo before covering a shooting and never returned.
Reports say the 30 year old was a crime photographer who was working for the sinaloa newspaper "El Debate" tracking the actions of the Sinaloa Cartel.
That's when his family reportedly called the hotel room to check on him and were told by the receptionist that two masked men arrived and demanded his hotel room key then took his belongings.
Up until now Laredo Police remain unaware of the case.
We'll bring you more information on this as it becomes available.
Looks like he lost “el Debate.” Asked too many questions of the wrong people. If he turns up at all it probably will be as a hacked up body in some Mexican business’s parking lot.
The naming of the two sibling cities is the reverse of the usual US custom of prepending “new” to a place name of the older world, e.g. New York, New Jersey, New Mexico. In this case Nuevo Laredo is Mexico’s echo of the Texan Laredo.
I feel sorry for his family..well, also for him, but I assume he’s been dead since shortly after his kidnapping.
The cartels don’t commonly hold hostages for ransom, as ransom drops are way too easy to catch one of them by.
Old style journalists were a brave lot - prayers for all involved.
The nephew of a good friend of mine crossed the border for some dental work. He has not been heard from since Friday. Please pray for his safe return.
I don't believe that Noel Shankle was ever found or heard from again.
You know, if that reporter was armed the FBI could trace him down in an instant. I hear they have this program where weapons can be located across the border with Mexico.
As I walked out on the streets of Laredo.
As I walked out on Laredo one day,
I spied a poor reporter wrapped in white linen,
Wrapped in white linen as cold as the clay.
You’re correct ... Noel still has not been found or heard from. His family is continuing to pray and hope however.
I have prayed for him over the time that he's been missing. There are so many missing Americans, and yet, after a few reports on the news, it falls off the radar/news cycle.
