Obummer just lost the election on this one. He may have bought a few votes, arguable ones he already has, but he further alienated 70% of the electorate.

In order to issue work permits, the applications, background checks, etc, etc must be done by bureaucrats. Time and money must be allocated for this purpose to set up a whole new gov’t organization for this purpose. These funds must be allocated by the house. All funding must originate in the House of Representatives. Let them pass a law that no money can be spent for this purpose from existing funds.

Border agency’s draft policy includes ‘prosecutorial discretion’
U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the agency charged with guarding the U.S. borders, has written a secret draft policy that would let its agents catch and release low-priority illegal immigrants rather than bring them in for processing and prosecution.
The policy was detailed in an internal memo obtained by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith and reviewed by The Washington Times, which confirmed the document.
According to the memo, the draft policy “provides circumstances when to pursue enforcement actions … and includes detailed discussion of several factors CBP personnel should consider when exercising discretion.”
Opponents say it amounts to another “backdoor amnesty” for illegal immigrants
“Rather than allow Border Patrol agents to do their job, the Obama administration instead would like them to roll out the welcome mat for illegal immigrants,” Mr. Smith said. “This ‘catch and release’ policy undermines border security, our immigration system, and CBP’s mission.”

Obama the First Dictator will be handing out bribes like this until the election. Our toothless, worthless geldings in Congress will wring their hands and whine about this gross abuse of power and gutting of the balance of powers as mandated in the Constitution but would rather have the talking points than do anything about this power grab by the Chicago thug in the White Hut.
Should God bless the USA by having him booted from office, Romney better show some leadership and rescind all of Obama’s executive decrees. In fact, he ought to campaign on this promise.
Most of these illegals probably reside in California, so I really don’t think it will affect the election, and once the word gets out, this will further motivate the voters on the right to come out and vote Obama out of office.
Again, they are NOT immigrants, they are by law, illegal aliens. NONE of them have led law-abiding laws since they’ve been here because BEING here is illegal, even if Obama declines to prosecute.
Further, declination of prosecution of one law-breaker vs another for the same offense, the only difference being age on illegal entrance seems to me unequal protection under the law. My guess is that legal challenges will be filed for the older criminals and the flood gates will open.
