WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have since led law-abiding lives. The election-year initiative addresses a top priority of an influential Latino electorate that has been vocal in its opposition to administration deportation policies.
The policy change, described to The Associated Press by two senior administration officials, will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants who have lived in fear of deportation. It also bypasses Congress and partially achieves the goals of the so-called DREAM Act, a long-sought but never enacted plan to establish a path toward citizenship for young people who came to the United States illegally but who have attended college or served in the military.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was to announce the new policy Friday, one week before President Barack Obama plans to address the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials' annual conference in Orlando, Fla. Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney is scheduled to speak to the group on Thursday.
Under the administration plan, illegal immigrants will be immune from deportation if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school or earned a GED, or served in the military. They also can apply for a work permit that will be good for two years with no limits on how many times it can be renewed. The officials who described the plan spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss it in advance of the official announcement.

Aside from the recent actions of Arizona and Alabama, what exactly has the GOP done to combat illegal immigration over the last 30 years? Big business loves cheap labor and the GOP is the party of big business, so they did nothing.
I really believed that after 9-11 Bush would put troops on our borders, but no.
Now the question is what will Congress do about Obama circumventing the law. I would like to see some balls from the GOP, but I doubt it. I am not even confident that Romney will do much to deport illegals.

Let Barry do this amnesty with his little Executive Order, and have every one of the '800,000' illegals come out in the open, get work permits and walk around free as a bird.
THEN! The day Romney's sworn in he writes a new EO that immediately voids Barry's. Then we sweep in with every ICE, FBI, US Marshal, and badge holding Barney Fife we have to where every stinking one of the 800,000 illegals are at and round them up, pack them on Buses like sardines and ship them back to wherever COD.
And we can easily do that thanks to the work permit info and every one of the other forms they filled out, and which we now have all thanks of Barry's 'gift' to them. (what is given can be taken away)

That means the ONLY way Hispanics can get and keep this "temporary relief" on a more permanent basis is to VOTE FOR OBAMA.
If they stray from Obama's Democrat plantation and vote for anyone else, or don't show up, the kid is going back to Mexico or Guatamala.

Like to add this, remember how Eric Holder got the attention of Carl Cooper regarding the murder of the White House intern and her work associates at the Star Bucks near the White House?
What he did was threaten Cooper's mother in law and his wife with prison AND adopting out the baby girl.
Legal hostage taking I suppose ~ and that's what we have here ~ hostage taking ~ the legal kidnapping of children!

Indeed; but knowing the sheer 'self-servance' of it all; and done with a 'straight face' is as painful as it is amazing in it's degradation.
It’s to the point where I want this country to fail and to fail hard so we can get rid of every single piece of S##T in government, and I mean every single one of them. Then we rebuild and start over again. This piece of shit in the oval office is an abomination and is a dictator whether anyone wants to admit it or not. Congress has no balls and will never stand up to this guy. EVERY ONE IN GOVT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!!
