What would be helpful is if we could possibly put up some barriers to producing power. /s

To help fill the gap, California grid operators have called back into service two gas-fired units at an aging power plant in Huntington Beach that had been retired in January.

Or not, even the loony left coast will use old, dirty plants when they actually need power.

Al Gore and the other rich liberals probably have their own diesel generators.

We don’t need to have power plants. Electricity is created “somewhere else” at no cost and in limitless quantities. Then is just “appears” in your electrical outlets!

Just ask any California liberal, they know it is true. So say their policies.

Wasn’t this a major reason why Gov. Gray Davis was recalled?

Just reiterating what Texans have said for years: cash on the barrel for power from Texas. Bill not paid up? We cut you off.

Federal judges will be ignored this time around, we are used to doing that now.

Dear California:

Please build some more power plants in your state.

Thank you.

DECADENCE!

It's like the Roman aquaducts spewing water.

And they're still voting for the same politicians who destroyed the once-Golden State.

FOOLS!

Blackouts before Coal!! If a liberal is to have any principle then they should huddle in the darkness and wonder in amazement as states beyond have reliable electricity and they do not. As the utopia crumbles it may yet dawn on them.

Perhaps there’s a Freeper who knows what went wrong at San Onofre this past year. Not that there was danger to the public, but what was supposed to be a long term improvement failed. They replaced steam generators at great cost.

This is the primary cause of potential shortages this year. 2000 MW of local power production off line.

And so it has come to pass that all the strange stories we heard about soviet satellite states during the 50's and 60's with chronic shortages, high inflation, shoddy infrastrucures, unreliable power, ruthless yet inept leadership, and a laughable press that regurgitated what they were told by the central power structure to hide their criminality, is now firmly established right here in the good ol' US of A.

Hold on a minute. I thought that Californut was celebrating the shutting down of an evil, dangerous, nasty, destructive NUCLEAR power plant. Isn’t this exactly what they have been demanding, even voting for?
The voters of that screwy state have been getting, not what they truly deserve, but that which they have been continuously and loudly DEMANDING. Now——STFU

But on the positive side, when the power fails at night, they’ll actually be able to see the stars.

"We're not forecasting blackouts, but during very hot periods, either a very hot day or an extended heat wave, there are going to be challenges in southern California,"

Ain't that special.

California no longer has blackouts.

They now have "challenges."

And when the "necessarily skyrocketing" bills show up in the homeowners mail will they have a "participation trophy" embossed in the letterhead?

There is no cure for "progressive liberal" stupidity.

NONE.

Perhaps Governor Brown can discover a way to have his bullet train generate electricity.

So let me get this straight, one of the highest revenue generating states in the nation (if not “the” most?) can’t keep the lights on?

When do you think they maybe, just maybe, have a problem?
