I have a similar trap but I don't dare use it. The last time I did I caught a skunk. It took me a while to get him out but I did so w/o getting sprayed. I guess I could have dispatched him first but I didn't want to do that.

I had the same experience with the same outcome. Threw a plastic tarp over the trap and very carefully opened it from an awkward position.Felt like I was defusing a bomb
Skunks aren’t as pesky as they might seem. I’ve caught them multiple times before. Just approach the trap with a blanket in front of you and drop it onto the trap. Then pick it up and transport the skunk to his new home, far far away.
